Posted this on the MARX8club board too.

I'm being repeatedly targeted by a carload of High Schoolers. Their MO is to throw 5 to 10 cups of Wendys I've cream on my 8 and scream "f*ck you for no reason!" before speeding off.

Last night I saw them but could get a plate. The cops are not much use and just ask me the same questions every week.

I now know this always happens between 7 and 9 on Fridays so Im waiting for them next week to get a plate.

I'm alone on this (unless anyone here wants to join the stake out) and would love suggestions.

I want these little ****** to wish they'd never started this game. Cuz Im going to win.

Anyone know of a good camcorder that would be suitBle fr catching a ate at night?

get a decent camera and sit in another car observing from the driveway of a neighbors house or something (asking them to sit in their driveway for a couple hours beforehand of course because of what is happening and you want to catch them) with a friend waiting for it to happen. record it when it finally does and catch up with them in your car to make sure you get a good clear ID of the plate. it will also help ID the suspects for prosecution so they can pay for damages (if any) due to the incident. it will be worth it

Now that would be funny if they ran it over. Of course, they'd suspect you, and probably come back with bats or something.

(So you confront them with something better.)

But in all seriousness, you could have someone else waiting to block the road off when they'd try and leave, you help, and just hold them there till the cops show.

100% worth pressing charges over, in the very least, to mess up their days.

Although equally as useless as the Mass RX-8 club reply, the replies I got here from you guys at least made me laugh my *** off. And no one asked me if I knew them or if I had attended any of their meets!

So the general consensus is that I should find them, drag them into the forest, tie them to a tree and violate them in front of their children. Gotcha! You're all accessories, f*ckers!

Haha, glad we could make you laugh.

You could get one of those security cameras that takes pictures every time it senses movement and put it by your Rx8. But I don't know how much those are. It'd probably be best and cheapest to just camp it out with a friend, and bs until they come by.

I actually let my car sit and warm up for a decent bit before driving it, so it'd get better if it didn't idle a whole lot. These cold months are gonna make it take forever, and the gas mileage just drops worse...

But, I just have all my maintenance up to date. I drive spiritedly every time I drive it. Not like a douchebag, just spiritedly.

I do have a an 11 mi trip to work, with about 8 of it being on the highway though. Kind of helps with the idling thing.

Agree with others that proposed low tech surveillance to get usable info to ID these kids with. That knowledge can be leveraged in a number of ways. Probably one of the least effective ones in my experience is to dump it into the hands of the cops and expect them to do anything about it. Normally they will just show up at the kids house and have a chat. Put the parents on alert and put some fear into the kids. Both aspects have presumptions behind them that often fail in post 1950's America (like the parents give a damn and the kids can be intimidated in this manner). Before going this route, see if you know any of the perpetrators involved and if the presumptions will work to your favor.

Otherwise, it might be another option to negotiate with the perps directly. Let them know you have the goods on them and are willing to use it - seek reconcilaition to stop the attacks before using the information to go on a counteroffensive which may up the stakes.

I cant tell you what to do or promote/condone violence...but if this was my 8 that this was done to.... They 1) would not have gotten away and 2) I'd be in jail for the things I'd do to persons whom commited the driveby-icecreaming.

^+1 but seriouslly why not go to the wendys closest to this crap happening in a different car of course and talk to the manager. maby they have cameras, maby one of their employees is friends with these d bags, maby mention survaliance cameras at wendys resturants to the usually useless cops. i would not stand for this. if you know what kind of car they are in and # of little douches in the car it should be pretty easy to find on tape.

I've considered that but the thought of them being tipped off and laying low for a while is somewhat off putting. I'm going to be in full security camera mode this Friday and hiding to get a plate as well. Just want the camera to get the action.

I also know what one of the cars looks like and took a spin through the local high school parking lots today over lunch. I'm pleased to say that I have a very strong lead... there can't be too many HS Student piloted P.O.S navy blue late 90s Ford Explorers in town. Could be a coincidence...

I've also got neighbours agreeing to assist this week with ID. No need to confront as I'd be a little concerned over what my actions might be.

The advantage they had until recently is that the attacks always happened while I was bathing and putting my kids to bed. I'd have had them by now if that wasn't the case. It'll happen though.

My suggestion:

* get some friends w/bats
* lay down a spike strip
* quickly approach the immobilized vehicle and proceed to unleash fury
* take their wallets and inform them that if for any reason your car receives so much as a pin point spec on it for whatever reason that you will return with your friends to their house for a repeat engagement.


...then copy down all of their information and save it...then sell their identity on ebay...make sure to start the bidding low...that way everybody has a chance

^lol - agreed. The lock n' load method would have been more my style but i realize it doesn't suit everyone.

If you're sure its an explorer then you can obviously out handle them in every way. Wait till it happens then hop in the car real quick and chaise them down. They will freak out and try to out-run you all crazy like and crash their suv. Then call the cops , wait for them to show up and tell them the whole story. The evidence will still be on your car. They cant ignore it then because there will be a case drawn up from the accident and the ice cream part will go into the roport
