And enthusiastic as well! However, you also need to be an MSCW member and work the hook-up a bit.

Plus, you need to be there before 7:30am and you are stuck there until 5:30pm.

Thanks for the heads up on the helmets, was planning on bringing mine.

So I'll be there at 945 on Saturday and I'm bringing my wife but didn't register her. Can she still do all the fun stuff or do I need to go ahead and register her as well? Cause I can't get anything before 245 now. Anybody know?

Ha! Sure, I can do that. But we met at Fudds in Columbia, I had the TI Grey with the front plate relocated.

i think i'm scheduled for Saturday at 12:15. i'll probably/hopefully be heading up there on Friday night, and stay in Centreville. we don't need to register a passenger if they are just coming to watch, right.

Do you guys think it's worth the hour drive there and back? I'm registered but if I attend I need to drive from Baltimore to FedEx field and then back to Baltimore.

How much driving time do you get? I've never done this before...was looking forward to it but not sure it's worth the time. Can anybody say anything that will wet my appetite a bit more?

You get to drive an RX-8 that isn't yours as hard as you want (inside the cones).
Then you get to do the same in a new Miata.
Along the way, you get some basic instruction on how to do so.
And some hotdogs and soda.
And you get to see my car (on Sunday).

I'm in Silver Spring - probably 1/2 hour.
BUT - I need to be there at 7:30 in the morning.
At least the beltway will be mostly deserted at 7am on a Sunday so I can open it up.

My honest opinion, skip it and attend your local autox. As for driving the new Miata, try your local dealership for more seat time. See https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...6&postcount=48 for a quick re-cap of happenings. Summary: line is too long, wait/driving time ratio is atrocious, and the food leaves a lot to be desired. Unless you are National-level caliber driver, forget about the only real prize such as Bose Wave Radio and enjoy your free oversized (nothing but XL) T-shirt on Mazda no matter how hard you try. (ps: I got a hat, one level above T-shirt)

Well I was there from 12 to 5. The line to drive time ratio is pretty bad, about an 1 and 15 minutes in line per event with about 45 seconds of drive time. But it is fun driving a car that's not yours as hard as you can. They are also extremely relaxed about it. I didn't think they'd allow you to really thrash the cars, since they are brand new and all, but they are pretty cool about it. As long as you don't endanger anyone, they don't get pissed if you skid out of control or go way too fast. I would recommend it.

By the way the new Miata is a lot of fun to drive. Might be as much fun as the 8. It also handles great, very predictably. I ran a 39.5 on the performance challenge with it.

Lines are too long... Was there from about 12-3 myself and only did two of the three course and the RX8 class. BTW, got in a blue one which ed.

Got lots of looks from my RX8 (esp since I have the flares and such and also just put on my new B pillars shipped directly from Japan. The instructions to put the things on were only in Japanese though .

Anyway, thinking about getting up real early and going down again around 7:00 am. Hope to beat some of the lines and get into the Miata with the three *****... Not sure yet if I will though...

Did get very close to the 23 second time in a Mazda 5 (missed 23.000 by 0.005 seconds!!!)

The Miata does handle quite well but I was watering for more (got around the track in 40 ... not as good as others did but hey it was my first time in one)

The RX8 class though was the best of all but you don't get any points.

Oh well...

What did everyone think?

I didn't like it for the fact that the lines were way to long. The sign up time didn't mean anything. If you didn't show up by noon then you had to wait in 1 hr + lines for the Miata course.

The lack of any food to eat other than your single hotdog and popcorn sucked.

But did get to flog a Rx8 other than mine around their course. Though they were suppose to give 3 runs, but there were so many people they had to limit to 1 run.

And the guy at the finish for the Mazda5 course wasn't happy when I didn't come close to the 23.000 time...guess 19s was to "fast" as he said. meh thought the point of a course was to go fast.

"Drive like you were late for work with a cop behind you"

I was, I was trying to run from the cop so I wouldn't be anymore late by having a ticket written

I would be suprise if anyone got that Radio! The time trail (23.000) was near impossible. One guy got 23.001.....nope didn't count! I mean come on!! 23.001 is damn close to 23.000.
