ok got my car back last night sorry i didn't post this soner. but thecar accelerates with a quickness now. takes a lill to get used to getting her started b/c of the new pressure plate clamps down with a maddness. but it onl ytook me a day to adjust. also the rpm drop a lot faster so you have to slip the clutch or give her a lill more gas. rotary performance did a knock up job. i recomend them. very friendly, and they have a good turn around time. also they are patient if you have a lot of nervous questions like i do whenever i do anything to my baby:p. they took the time to answer every ill thing i had to ask..which was a good amount of stuff. very perfessional.

Rotary Performance is the best if you don't need a dynometer

As far as other shops, Altered Atmosphere in Maryland is the best if you need tuning or you have real power (like a turbo).

Stay away from chumps like Vertex.

I had my springs done at Hi Flow Custom Exhaust for $200. They did a great job and I chilled in the shop and had a beer w/the guys while they were installing my springs.
Scott owns the store, and the # is 703.392.6016. I recommend, nice guys.

okay thread back from the dead..haha time for army's rant about why his 8 is driving him crazy...prepare yourself.

okay as you know (earlier in this thread) i got a mazdaspeed flywheel...and a clutch/pressure plate from Racingbeat. i had the all installed at RP in manassas. was okay at first didn't really notice any issues..but a few days later it was starting to make sounds that (in my book) are bad. from a start she makes a strange warble metalic sound...but only in 1st gear and reverse (rev is a lot worse mostly i think b/c i slip the clutch more)...and she is making an odd vibration/sound at 3k-4k rpm. took it back to RP and they said it was the tranny....i think "oh f'ing great"..so i take it to the dealership..they put it on the lift...test drive it (with me in it)...and the conclusion...the tranny is fine. it's the work that was done..sonething was messed up with it..according to the dealership. (final word from them the clutch needed adjustment)

so i think great one tells me one thing the other the exact opposite. well i'm calling racingbeat tomarrow to see if it could've been the parts i got or what-not..see what they think it coudl be based on the simptoms..but i plan on calling RP after that and telling them to fix it. i dunno if they didn't install it quite right..or if some of the parts were bad (doubt ful...but you never know). so hopfully my baby will be happy....haha it's like she has a cold that won't go away. gotta tell you the metalic clicking/warbling sound (sorry not good at discribing sounds) sounds HORRIBLE when i back up. haha get a lot of funny looks..peopel are waiting for my tranny to explode or something.

ah thank you for letting me vent..my poor poor baby. ah well hopfully all will be well soon. RP said that i can bring it back and they drop the tranny to see what the deal is...sounded very nice and cooperative when i spokje to them last (a week ago i've been out of town). so hopfully it'll all go through with out a hitch..well anouther hitch that is:p

see...that's total bullshit from RP. the car ran perfectly fine until they worked on it. yes, there is a possibility that the parts are wrong. but i'm pretty sure it was the work that is at fault. i will never take my car to a performance shop...unless it's a reputable one like RE-Amemiya :D

Hello,

Just wanted to let you all know that I finally got our RX8 site up this past week. I have a few more products to add when I get time but what's there is a pretty good assortment of stuff.

We are a Racing Beat dealer and have good connections to Mazdaspeed parts as well. We are also a Tire Rack pereferred installer and have many connections in the aftermarket world. If it's available, we can probably get it for you.

As a little background for those of you who may not be familiar with us, we began in 1992 as a seller of aftermarket Mazda parts. That grew into being one of the largest Miata parts houses in the country and around 1997 we began a small service shop catering to Miatas. Since then we have grown into a full service automotive repair facility with a specialty in Mazdas. We are one of the few shops in the area with a true specialty in Miatas and RX7s, and have started doing a fair amount of RX8 work as well.

Please feel free to check out the website or drop by in person.

Thanks for letting me post this.

Regards
