Thanks! Saw you had a good turnout this past Sunday. The fact is that I have loads to learn about cars especially the 8. So far the forum has been a great source.

Post some pics when you have a chance! The Rotary is new for me too...it was pistons all the way before the RX-8.

Congrats!
I want mine baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaccck. I called the shop yesterday - another 2 or 3 WEEKS.
Man whatever you do, do NOT let someone hit you. Especially when it's less than 2 weeks old.
The body shop has now had mine for DOUBLE the amount of time that I did.
sorry, just had to vent a little.
Enjoy, and don't forget to get some sleep in between the road trips!

Oh, I posted it somewhere awhile ago. Then I try and not remember for a few days... then I call the shop and get all riled up again - like yesterday.
I was driving slowly enough up to a red light in the left hand turn only lane. traffic was stopped and backed up in the right (so I was travelling past a row of stopped cars and a truck). Just as I went past the truck on my right some IDIOT comes flying out of a parking lot on the other side of the truck making a left turn (right through the stopped traffic, across my lane which he could not see and in a HUGE hurry to beat out the car coming in the other direction)
So there I was.
There he was. No license, a borrowed P/U truck and it turns out, no insurance.
There goes my 12 day old 8. I had to have it towed to the dealer, and there it sits. In pieces.
Every time the shop orders the parts, waits, gets them in and dismantles the old parts, they find new damage. The insurance guy goes out, has a look and ok's all the new parts. Then the process starts all over again. We're on out 3rd set of parts. I am sure that this is some kind of scam that I am only marginally a part of. I'll get it back, after the insurance adjuster and body shop guy have milked my insurance company to pay for every single part to the right of the engine. So far, no engine damage - thankfully.
And the good news for the rest of you - if you do get into an accident this car handles it great. I barely felt it - and it was a pretty hard bash (I estimate between 15 -20 MPH) The airbags did NOT deploy, I was barely rattled. The car suffered typical "crumple zone" damage. Of course now we're up to 6 or 7 thousand worth of brackets, supports hangers and stabilizers etc. But no engine damage and it was a pick up truck that hit me in a pretty direct smash to the front side panel. Not even the hood had a ding on it.
<sigh> ANd that's the story.
Took two State Troopers to get me to stop crying and screaming at the other driver. (who didn't speak a word of English..)

Wow Sue, thats terrible! I feel bad for you. Actually I almost did get into an accident but that was when I was on my way to pick up my 8! Travelling down Rt.29, its all green lights for me, pass the second intersection and I hear a squealing brakes!! Some idiot almost ran into me from the side even though it was red for him. Now you would think this jerk would stop, but no once I got past, he kept driving!!!!! Good thing there was no cars coming behind me else he would have been plastered! If I had been hit, I would have had to forget getting my 8 and wait till the weekend. Ironically, I had just finished talking to the sales rep to tell him I was on the way and he said, "Have a safe trip!". That was a close one.

Hey Wayne- Just got the club package in the mail today. Thanks ! I just wish I had a car to put the sticker on. I also got my bra (for the 8 it's too big for me!) mainly as added protection against the dreaded Cicadas.
As far as the car - I thought I was getting it early next week. Yesterday they told me that they were just ordering a new batch of parts (radiator supports is all I remember) which takes us to next week - plus the "8 to 10 working days" it will take to do the job. I figure... 3 weeks. argh. But they have me over a barrel. Every time I complain they remind me how they are replacing every tiny thing to make it 100% new again, and how I wouldn't be happy with anything less. argh.
On the bright side, I now have an ongoing relationship by phone with the service manager. After spending so much time on this forum, I keep calling up and telling him all the TSB info that I want done - like the M flash, the airbag, and now I'm wondering about the A/C.
So while it sits next door in the body shop, the list of service to perform grows..
Anyhow, I am trying really hard not to dwell on this. I cannot tell you how long I have waited to own a Rotary Mazda that goes "hummmmmmmmm" . Oh I know, most of you are too young to remember that commercial?! I have been in love with the RX7 since the very first model. I finally could afford to get one.. and they had stopped making them.
And so it has been a REALLY long wait for the 8. Another 3 weeks is not going to kill me. In the meanwhile I live vicariously through everyone else on the forum! And still drive the #$%^ SUV 50 miles to and 50 miles from work every day. <sigh> It was so much fun to drive the 8 that one week...
Sue

Sue, you poor, poor woman. Waited so long for a rotary and then only one week in the new car. Jeez, when you get your car back you are going to have fun. Hope you get it in time for the meet. You should like all the 7's that will be there as well. Good luck.

Thanks! Loving all the sympathy.. anyhow, the wait wasn't all that bad - my ex had a VTech Prelude while we were married. It wasn't a rotary, but....... it wasn't so bad. (but the 8 could out handle it in a flash!)
I 've only driven a 7 briefly ( a friend's) - How differently does the 8 handle? I think the weight distribution is amazing in the 8... Though I think my impression was that the 7 had a little more power (but it could have been a Turbo I drove)

I really don't want to hujack Sue's thread, after all shes the one who has it worse than me. But I'll answer few of the posts. Hamilton is an hour away from Newark. Just go all the way down the NJ Tpk and exit 7A onto Rt.195. Then exit 3B takes you to Hamilton Sq. Of course if you had the NAV like me, you wouldn't need to ask. :p :D hehehe

Senseny, no I didn't get mine at Hamilton Mazda. They didn't have the one I wanted. I found mine all the way in Harrisburg, PA!!! The 2 hour drive back was one of the best I've ever had!! :D Faulkner Mazda in Harrisburg was great!! Initially the fender strakes installed by them were crooked, and I complained about it. They ordered a new pair and mounted them but didn't stick them on because I gave them so much info and pics from this website on installing it, that they asked if I would prefer installing it myself. I said yes of course! So that my project for this weekend! hehe

Hey! This is your thread and I hijacked it!
Blue is a GREAT color - the color of a First Place Ribbon.
Bet you didn't want to get home from Harrisburg. BTW, what are you doing on the computer and not in the car???

Sue, glad you got the thankyou package. We have alot of folk who support the club, so I want them to feel satisfied of the appreciation received on this side. Having new stickers created in the next month or so...something with the .com title.

I really recommend the front bra, I used my RX8 during winter, its now covered with chips from rock salt. i'll certainly be buying one myself this summer.

Hopefully you will have your 8 back by may 23rd for the philadelphia meet. Should be a great day!

All the best - Wayne

Decided who is going to install it? The closest ones to me is a shop in Cherry Hill and a guy in Maple Share. So far for the whole XPel kit, the shop in Cherry Hill said cost of materials + $350 for labor and the other guy said $675 including materials and labor. But I wanted to cover the rear bumber and the sides also. So gonna wait on what they charge for that. Still don't know what their guarantee is on labor.

Kel RX8 - Thanks!

Sue - Lol you're right! It is my thread!!! Must be my deliriousness from owning a 8! I did go for a drive :D Tested it out a nice windy empty road, hit 60 mph. Wasn't sure how much faster I could go. But it sure hugs the road nice! Onramps and offramps I've manage 55 mph though I think I could do more..... dunno....what have you guys done?? Its my first time with a beauty like this car so I'm still unsure of what it and I can handle :D

Blue, rev it!! It can handle the high RPMS, and really, there is no break in period. Drive safe though!

I own an AT - use the paddles often. Its a great way to feel the power. Its actually made me want to trade mine in for an MT.
