I'm not sure either - I did a search for the Front o2 and found lots of threads on the rear lol

Since the rear is on the cat/midpipe, I'm going to guess the front is on the header. Unless the MAF sensor is somehow the front o2 sensor

front o2 sensor is about 2 feet behind the rear o2 sensor. it's on the exhaust manifold, very close to the midpipe flange.

Kane may be willing to travel up to NYC to do a lesson on how to tune using the AP - who would be interested in this? I am asking him for exact details, and I expect we would be paying for his travel and accommodation. If we have enough people interested in this, it might be a good thing to learn about - I don't know if we have any good tuners in our area that can work on the AP.

We can post this up to the LI and NJ thread too if you guys thing they'll be interested.

I'm interested. Was thinking of getting it but did not know if I was able to tune it myself. So i put it off for another time.

Alright, since we seem to have some interest:

Kane doesn't require too much in travel and stay - a plane trip would be best for him ($150 round trip) vs the drive because he's snowed in down there. He's available from now till the 20th of February. He can stay in a hotel, or he can stay with one of us if we're willing. He charges a flat $500 for the class, which would cover up to two days of classes. So if we have more people, chipping in, it'll benefit us more. The airfare is an estimate for now.

Plane ticket from Newport News, VA or I could drive... but I am thinking that isn't worth it....flights are pretty cheap these days. I have done a few of these, they take a very full day or two chill days....

Hotel or crash at someone's house... I am easy either way. And for RX8 folks I'd do it for a flat $500 plus expenses. So if you want to do one day or two it doesn't matter to me....

If you wanted to be cheap you could fly me in (about $150 I guess), I'll crash at someone's house and run the class over a day or two - so the whole thing would be about 650 in that case.
He'll teach us how to understand flash tuning (AP/Hymee), and if we want to, he can teach us Int-X, AEM, etc. He can also do other cars besides the RX-8. It's the basics of understanding how the air-fuel maps, MAF scaling, and various engine factors that affect your tune.

I'll tune at least one car start to finish and walk everyone else through the AP or Hymee etc - flash tuners in general. If you have folks with others like the emanagae Int-X or AEM etc, Mazdaspeed 3-6, STI whatever it's cool I cover those too.
He can show us how the tune differs between a NA car and a FI car. If we volunteer a NA car and a FI car, it'll help. I'm willing to volunteer mine - unless someone else wants to. He is not tuning the car just for the person who volunteered. He is showing us how to tune - that is the main reason we're doing this. If you want to learn how, this is the opportunity. You might want to expand on the learning in the future, but that's up to you. If you just want to get a tune for your car, this is not the event for you.

We'd just need a place where we can hang together and have him explain everything to us. Access to the volunteer cars will be best (i.e. someone's place) so we can see how the tuning directly affects the outputs.

Cool man let me know... the one upside of a hotel I guess is guests can use the conference room usually for free I think....though the actual tuning process could easily take place at someone's crib or a dyno etc since you are the ones driving them around to get logs... HEHE

I could do an APexi PFC on a 7 pretty easy, if there are no FI 8's I can just walk everyone through the difference from say mine or J Cab's tune and your NA ones.
If you guys are seriously interested in this event, let me know. I'll PM each and everyone of you are are seriously interested. I can't say how much it'll cost each of us until I figure out how many of us are there, and what the exact costs of him getting here are. If there are only 3 or 4 of us interested, it probably will still be worth it. Remember, this is for us to understand how engine tuning works - not just with the AP, but overall.

If we attend as a group, the chances of us all understanding how it works will increase. After all, if one of us doesn't get it, someone else might. Then we can help each other out. If you do not feel comfortable tuning your car, don't feel obligated to jump at this opportunity. I cannot compare Kane to MM. They are different people - but Kane has shown that he is very capable. If you just want to buy a tune from someone, get it from MM. You might still buy the tunes from MM after this class. I'm trying to set this up so I can understand how to tune the rotary.

The optima red top group 35? Or are you looking at lightweight replacements?

http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/#redspecs

I think a few people recommended this site to me for the red top group 35 (stock replacement) - it's cheaper here. There's another site, but I have that bookmarked at home.

*edit* woops - Group 35. I'm pretty sure we are group 35, reverse post. Group 34 is if we are doing a battery relocation.

^ this is a good idea...
If i can suggest doing this at a local shop as a meet.......

I went to a local meet one time where they had a guy talking about Injectors Cleaning and another talking about turbocharging pros and Cons....

It was a awesome addition to the whole "meeting the shop" experience.... I would talk to Dave at KDR.
He tunes my boys turbo Rx8... and would be a good place if you can set it up with him.

That sounds good, if you can help me with the setting up especially, since I don't know Dave at KDR =p

Lets spread the word if possible. The more people we can get, the more we can split the cost - the more people will learn from this. I'm going to make a thread about it.

See thread: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?p=3413219

Welcome back, Kenny! Can't wait for whatever your planning.

And let me know if you're selling the Enkei's. Although I'm going to take a wild guess that Al's asking you about them lol.
