Exclamation Pricing

Hey, first time user. Just took a test drive yesterday. Now before I put to much time into research, for anyone who has already purchased, my question is; Are dealer dealing fairly or do they want full MSRP?

I have mine ordered there pushing for full MSRP I got in when the orders were early so i got more room for work than your liable to get now. The demand for these things are big there a pretty hot camodity. Because there virturally none still released.

If you can get it for less than MSRP you're definitely in the minority. Check the dealer/financing forum, there's a poll in there detailing how many paid over, under, and MSRP. Most were at MSRP, though it's not *impossible* to get it a bit under. Good luck.

I'm in NE Ohio and I got $800 under list for taking the first RX-8 off the lot. Went on last day of July at 7:30pm. There wasn't much haggling. They first offered $500 off of list and then asked me how much I wanted to pay and 5 minutes later I had the car. Doh! It almost seemed like I should have said $1000 off list.

Pre-ordering may cause you to pay list price but I'm not sure. I searched the mazdausa.com site so I somewhat knew which dealers had the car I wanted.

The salesguy keeps telling me I got a great deal and said I can't tell anyone about it but I think they always say that.

Hope that helps.

Elara, I got a sunlight silver RX-8 GT with black/red leather from Cascade Mazda, N of Akron. There were no rebates or specials and no special financing so except for the $800 off list, they had little to entice me.

Shocka, Here are some further tips if you are looking to get below list.

Who knows if it works, but here's what I said (in a very friendly manner) to the salesman. Why should I buy the car from you at list price when I can get the same price from any dealer? There are several dealers within 30 miles of me. There are a zillion dealers within 60 miles. I think this question alone will get you something off of list price. I don't see how the salesman can't budge unless RX-8s are rare. Most dealers in my area are just receiving a fair number of RX-8s so that wasn't a problem. Ask the salesman this question and put the pressure on him, instead of the salesman putting pressure on you.

For the midwest, summer is almost over. I don't think many RX-8s will be sold once summer ends, especially since you can't use the OEM tires in the snow. If the salesman still won't budge, hit him with that on Aug 30 right before they close. The downside is that if you decide to buy the car Aug 30, summer is basicly over already. You might want to wait till next spring.
