Oil Hook Up!!

Just for Richmond RX8'ers out there...I have to say I have seen the oil light on my 8 once or twice..while on trips..but Capital Mazda has hooked me up with a bottle of 5w20 every time I ask..no charge...so..next time you are there it might not hurt to ask for a hook up..

They pissed me off last week when I came in for 5k service- I told them I had the oil light problem, and while they made note of it on the service sheet, they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about when I asked if they could do anything to fix it (I know what they could do, but I was playing the "silly female car owner"). Didn't offer me any oil either. We're driving to Niagara tomorrow, and if the oil light comes on during the trip, I'm going to have some words with them when we get back.

I did get a birthday card from them today..kind of random.

Oh man, if you talk top Christian on the Mazda Service team he should hook you up. Your oil light will come on. I have driven to NY and NC from Richmond..and the rotor's in the 8 love to keep themselves lubed up for long trips. Good thing is, the light will tell you right when its a quart low. So you still have plenty in the pan...

Christian was the guy who did my 5k service- I think he's the rotary guy there right now. And my oil light goes on if I'm anything less than 2/3s full- which is what, a little over half a quart? It's really starting to **** me off. I'll just deal with it when I get back....

Have a safe trip! But, I did read on the forum that some 8's had there oil pans replaced.. I have to say, my 8 has been free of any issues more than its love to drink....and if I am going on long trips I always take a bottle of oil.. Nothing out of the Mazda Renesis norm..but post when you get back from Niagra..let us know how it did! (Oh and I have had my 8 since August)

Yes, that's the problem- there's something wrong with the sensors, which I actually explained to them and I guess they thought I was just making it up. Oh well.

I need to go buy more oil- I've got half a quart in the car (I've always carried some, no matter what car I'm in). Should have asked Capitol last week

This is actually our second long trip- went down to Asheville the beginning of September, and it was fine except for having the oil light on the entire way. I don't envision any problems driving to Niagara, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed just in case.

Not a flicker from the oil light the entire way. I was very surprised and pleased. My only complaint is that it is still WAY too easy to speed in that car- we cruised between 80-90 a good deal of the way, and that wasn't even on purpose.

Hit some snow in Niagara, and the car was fine.

On the way back, had three people and our luggage, and no problems. Everyone was comfortable, and the car acts the same with three people as with one.
