I only got to my first meet a while ago. Seems many of the members have been selling off their cars.

They've had some pretty decent draws in recent years. They got a dozen or so cars at the Senca Park Zoo, only to have the cops wait outside to give out tickets for missing cat / exhaust too loud. Quite a few members are RX-7 guys, but the co-founder races an 8 at SCCA occasionally when they're hosted at RIT.

Instead of a project, it's more or less the 60,000 mi check-up.

Fluid Changes (Oil, Transmission, Coolant)
Clean OMP Lines
SSV Cleaning
Catch Can install (finally finished my fab work)
Total Ground Scrubbing
Brake Bleed
Clutch Alighnment
TB Cleaning
Water Pump replacement (noticed a weep when I put her in storage).
Motor mount replacement (passenger side went first, of course)

Just a heads up to everyone, I picked up a TR-01 rotory engine compression tester and am looking for people that will let me try it out so I can see how accurate it is.

Anyone around the area needs a compression test done I will do it for free and will take no more than 30 mins, while the car is up in the air on my lift you can feel free to look over whatever else you want to do as well.

PM me here or text 7163612410

Read the threads, bridge porting is not worth the effort or the aggravation. Minimal gains and you will need a rebuild after about 20K miles

well im just swapping engines for now to get it back on the road. and cracking open my first Renesis to study and see what can be done to it and do it and then after building this one fully to what i want i will take the engine to an engine dyno and get the numbers tune it and leave it as it will be. then assemble it on the car and after tune the car to match the engine. Not in a big hurry but with lots of ideas and positive attitude.

hmm well almost done with the engine swap and finally turned it on. It seems to be working fine till it gets to normal temp. a loud ticking noise and it does not idle when hot... feeling puzzled. I got new ignition coils, cables and spark plugs. The sound seems to be coming from the exhaust at the junction of the mid pipe and the manifold. I think i used the wrong gasket at the junction.

What od mean does not idle? Meaning it stalls out or unstable revs?

Ticking sound could be anything, and a video will indeed help.

At normal working temp, as soon as i let go of the gas pedal it dies and no turning it back on. until it cools down a bit for 5 min then it turns on after a few 30 sec cranks but no idle. It dies once more and no more turning it on again.

I have worked worked a lot with RX7, carburated mostly, but on this one i feel at a loss. As i said before this is my first 8 that I work on so there is going to be a learning curb i think, but the basics should be the same. I tried all i know on the 7 and came to the last 2-3 things. Ignition, that i changed, the fuel could be bad or the pump, I have not changed yet or tested, O2 sensor, have not changed or tested,. Reset the comp with the 20 brake pumps (just found this so no i have not done this) I dont have access to the car this week as i am working at a friends garage and he went off on vacation. So next week ill get a video and post it. Or if some one with more xp comes arround te rochester area let me know so that i can pick on your brain. Thanks. For the love of Rotary engines and the 8's.

Pull the plugs what do they look like, test all four coils and spark. Honestly sounds like an internal problem. I would venture out into the rest of the forum and ask.
