got my car back and im far from thrilled.......they didnt road test it regardless of my issues...couldnt duplicate the CEL and said it didnt read so it must never have happened (im the crazy one) and the coolant was fine (i imagined that one too)....they said they tested the brakes to hear the squeal and came out negative...but after 1 mile of driving they came back for me!....

they damaged my side skirts so i had a bloody fit in front of customers....so now i got it in writing that they are responsible for repairs but there is chunks of paint missing where they tried to lift the car.....they tried to blame it on me too and i asked the manager if he was delusional!.....

i asked the gas they put in and one guy says plus, the other says premium and when i got in the managers face over it they admitted to topping up with mid grade!...so i asked which one of these morons is pocketing mazdas cash that they gave for this and why the dealer cant follow simple instructions!!

i didnt even mention that when they sent me to enterprise for the loaner (no promised cx-7) enterprise tried to charge me additional fees!....i told them to call the dealer and handle it because if they didnt then that dealer would be losing the customer!....im just plain furious and then the service writer had such an i dont give a **** attitude!......what happened to white glove?.....did they mean white latex glove (non lubed) for when you bend over???

^Ok so if they couldnt reproduce your brake squeel how the hell did they not take it for a road test? unless they just did a quick test while it was on the lift and depending on which lift they used I'd imagine it would of been quite dangerous.

Are they gonna repaint or replace your side skirts man?? I can only imagine how pissed you were. I know you take high pride in your ride.. I'd definatly suggest contacting mazda about thier um latex white glove treatment!

Holycross have you gone to a dealer yet or like me waiting for the letter?
Yes I know you can go without one but rather have it on me incase Gallery gives me the run around "well if you havent recieved it yet you most likely dont need it." I dont want to then go on a massive bitch fest about yeah.. just a classic Clavius rant IRL... which right now they dont want to hear my patience is very low atm.

Oh Btw Chrism what kinda fee's did Enterprise try to slap onto you? I usualy get asked to pay out of pocket a $15 fee for waving insurance or sum b.s. like that. Last time I got a rental I just told the guy "whatever choice has me paying you guys nothing!". Guy said "you sure" and I told him yes.. I have full coverage anyways (thank you 6 years worth of payments) and he shut up after that.

just say the name so people won't have to go thru what you went thru. sounds like bad customer service on behalf of the dealer.

Wow Chris,

That sux. I had a flawless experience with Grecco Mazda in Rockaway, NJ. Was surprised since they are not the fanciest of dealers but they delivered on everything that was expected.

Good luck on the skirts!. Damage = opportunity to change styles???

Had the recall done a little more then a month ago and have driven the car very little since. I have had the car for almost a year and never experienced the flooding issue until yesterday, great upgrade. When i called Brandywine Mazda they were once again rude and completely useless to me. Service department basically told me i had to take a day off from work if i wanted to get a loaner becuase they would not accept the car on a weekend? So now my option is to have it towed there tomorrow night and just leave the key in the box. Good thing i have a beater car that i have been using for work lately. Again, stay away from Brandywine Mazda

I took mine to North Penn Imports in Landsdale (or close by) in eastern PA, where I bought my car. They are very friendly and their service at the desk was awesome. They filled me up with premium, detailed the car (the inside was pretty greasy-clean, but I can't kick a gift horse in the mouth, especially when I wasn't expected an interior detail), washed the car (tire shine and all), and let me keep the accent pieces they were replacing (an IOU from when I took it off the lot). I had pointed out my rusty rotors, and they painted these as well, which I was pretty happy about. The only things they didn't do were fix my rattles, one at the steering wheel and one in the passenger door (they broke my window on the lot before I bought it and had to replace the window, and I believe this is causing a rattle). They said they couldn't replicate the noise, but the passenger rattle has noticably increased since I got the car back. I'll be installing derwankel puddle lights soon and going on a rattle hunt, hopefully that will work.

As far as the actual recall, they just gave me the new flash. When I dropped my car off, the service tech asked me some questions (I haven't had the car long, only 3500 miles, so I couldn't answer them accurately, and I told hime this). He responded like "You'll probably just get a flash and new spark plugs." No spark plugs. The only noticable difference is I spit out a lot of exhaust the first couple minutes after I start my car? I'll see where this goes.

One "funny" thing was I dropped my car off Tuesday morning, picked up a rental and opted to pay $6 a day for complete coverage. Thursday morning I get a call saying my car is ready, but I am away on business. So I get back to work on Friday, call them and tell them I will be picking up my car in the afternoon, they tell me that I have had the rental one day longer than Mazda will pay for, so I will be charged $21. I say whatever, and planned on arguing at the rental place once I got there (the rental "expired" at noon and I brought it in at 4, not to mention I had only driven it twice and they gave me a dirty rental car. all in all, I wasn't paying $40 for a rental car). When I finally got there, they didnt realize I had the car a day longer, so they charged my $12 for the complete coverage, and that was it. SWeeeet

Yesterday I get a call from the rental place asking to call them back cause they didn't charge me for the extra day! Yeah, sure, I'll give you a call. Forget it, why don't I just send you the money in the mail! Hah. they won't be getting a call from me anytime soon.

All in all, North Penn imports was good service, and I would recommend them (both for buying and servicing)

Good job today by O'Hara Mazda in Fairhaven, MA . New leading plugs and PCM flash, but nothing else required. Free loaner, tank top off and wash.

I had them put on an A/C condenser shield as well (not comfortable removing the underside pan myself).

I got a call today from my Mazda Dealer about the recall. I still havent recieved the letter yet. Though I find it odd they waited to call me once the recent forecast calls for cold weather for the next 7 days lol.

Sadly when/if I take the car to them I'm going to have a list of things for them to look at while they have the car. Like this growing rattle in my drivers side door (sob is getting louder and more annoying), car rattling through my seat stearing wheel and shift **** so as per Kev's (My10) recommendation gonna ask them to check the motor mounts. Might have them do my 30k mile maitence to but I'm soo gonna tell them to knock off a few items like oh I dunno refilling my power stearing fluid.. (We dont have one imagine that! lol) and a oil chance just had one at the end of Aug. I'm partially thinking of taking in all the doc's I've printed up (Thanks for those Zoom!!) and asking if they need 'em lol.. I've experinced power loss once while driving and at times to me atleast I notice my idle is very low just above the 500 mark I'd say the 700mark if there is one.

Edit: Btw almost forgot going to ask for a new starter. Last few days been having some hard hard starts like the engine doesnt want to start.

I left my car at Browns Mazda in Fairfax last Tuesday for the recall, state inspection and a emissions test. I was expecting a CX7 and ended up with a beat up Tauras. One of the sevice advisors (Dave) was offering the CX7s demo(only three) to anyone walking in the door. Dropped it off at 8:00 am and picked it up just before 8:00 pm. I was charged for the state inspection but did not have a new sticker. I returned the next morning expecting to get a sticker slapped on it and was rejected due to the back seat seat belts not being operational ( I have a harness bar welded in that does not allow any passengers to set in the back seats). I had to return to the dealer a third time to get the inspection sticker.
I don't think I will be returning any time soon. I am now wondering if the recall work was performed at all. Is there any way to check if the recall work was performed?

They are Supposed to slap a sticker on your engine bay somewhere. Myself Ima figure out someway to mark my plugs and maybe place a piece of tape on my engine cover. That way I'll know for a fact they did touch my car. Did they fill your tank and wash your car atleast??

No Sticker. I checked with the service advisior this morning and he said the recall work was done and I could come back and he would put a sticker in the door jamb!
My paper work stated that my plugs were not changed because they were changed when I had the starter motor recall done.
My scan tool can read alot of codes bit I doubt that it can tell me flash versions.
Any suggestions on confirming that the reflash was done?
They did fill my car I requested no car wash.

Just got back from Mazda Gallery and I'll say I got grey glove service. Definatly not white glove but not black glove by anymeans. Steve was handling the recalls for the 8's and he seemed pretty nice. Dropped it off in the morning for the recall and for my 30k mile service (still find it funny/sad I bought the car with 31.5k miles and it wasnt done.) since I didnt wish to possibly have a problem if I ever had a real problem with the car "Well you never....".

I got a call around 1:30-2'sh from Steve saying my car was done for the recall. I mentioned "So my 30k service was done to, damn you guys are fast!" he paused and said "Umm..." aparently Drew (who I dropped the car off to) forgot to mention it to Steve. I rolled my eyes and he said he'd call me when it was ready. By the time I got home I already got a message saying I'm all set (caller id says 3:25). Got there dropped off my Jeep Liberty ('eh crap car felt to high off the ground), and he had some of the paperwork ready for me. Aparently according to my paperwork I got the flash and the CAT test. No test drive or vacum test, part of me was disapointed in that but 'eh.. hopefully in a few days the flash will kick in and things will be fine. No Full tank of gas and no car wash BUT he ended up taking off around $40 from my maintence, so after realizing this I shut up and left the parkinglot.

Oh.. I actually got the recall sticker in my engine pay by the firewall was very surprised by that.

They need a Mazda Dealership closer to me damnit lol.. btw the guy was surprised I wanted a copy of the CAT test, just told him I wanted it for my records which is true. I got a value of1.605 but beside the print out written in pen is 1.685 then in a circle and arrow to the Value is 1358.

How you fair Holy? (I bet ya got a full tank o'gas haha)

I took mine to Wellesley Mazda yesterday morning and they gave me a Mazda5 for the loaner. Overall I was happier with my experience there than Mazda Gallery. The service people seemed more organized and aware of what was going on. My only complaints are that I repeatedly told the service consultant to not wash the car, but when I picked it up it was cleaned, and they also charged me $5 for a "gas fee" on the loaner.

Received the new flash but the spark plugs were not changed since the service guy said I already had the new ones. The car has more pickup above 3k RPM, but it seems like my gas mileage has gone down a bit.

Oh, and yes I did get a full tank of gas.

I didn't have the papers, just went in because I needed an alignment and I got sick of my usual dealer. I asked them how many 8s they've taken for the recall and they said they usually just do the recall when people bring their car in for regular service. They said they've done about a dozen.

Normally I'm not impressed with my dealer (Hertrich's in Dover, DE) but with this recall it was totally different. I had a call one day from the dealer asking about a taillight i had on order. (I told them to toss it) I asked them about the recall, and the guy told me to call in a week if I don't get a letter. Well, I called after a week and scheduled my recall. When I took it in, they had it there for about 2 hrs and did nothing to it. They called the tech line cause i've been having problems with spark knock and idle. They said they would call me when They heard back from mazda. Well, 2 days later, they asked me to bring my car back in. I did, they gave me a rental and sent me on my way. 2 days after that, i got a call telling me that they were going to replace my motor. They had me come in, drop off the rental, and pick up a CX-7. They had my car for a week and a few days, and everything went well. I'm still in the tortureous break-in period, but the start is awesome and it runs alot smoother. They didn't wash it or fill it up, but I'm not worried about it.

It seems I'm the first to get a motor who posted in this thread. It was the second in DE to get changed.
