Well Brandywine at first wanted to set a time up for me to come in. Then I mentioned about how the car has been in for the 'recall' issues in the past. After I told them I would call with a good time they will not take me until I have the notice in hand!

Called MNAO today. They told me East Coast should see them around the middle of October. FWIW Also asked about how I have had this stalling issue a few times. He stated that the dealer has to follow the procedure and run the tests. He also told me if it has been in for this then it needs to be changed. Told me to give the dealer a chance. If I am not satisfied to call back. We will see, hopefully before Christmas!

picked mine up today, all is well. They left the rag on the hood from the wask(was very crappy). The only good thing was the cleaned the interior, one less thing to do for the meet sat.

I might just take the trip up there... Has anyone gone to Wellesley yet? I still haven't gotten my letter, neither has my friend in NY. Just the warranty extension.

Well Sj just posted he heard by mid October so by then I'll be getting it done. Some dealers wont take it without the letter (or know about it aparently )
I'm personaly gonna wait for the letter just incase I get dicked around by a dealer. Also going to be bringing with me all the damn paper work related to it.. Hehe.. Curious as to what documentation of test's I can ask from a dealer to keep in my files.

Call Werner Mazda in Manchester, NH and ask to speak with Apryl. She will hook you up. I'm dropping my 8 off Friday am, getting a rental and picking up my 8 Friday nite after work. Very simple ordeal.

My advice, get copies of everything. In fact, you might want to read the agreement you signed at time of purchase. At the bottom of the warranty agreement we signed it says, "YOU AGREE TO MAINTAIN THE COVERED VEHICLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTUERE'S AND THE CONTRACT'S STATED PERIODIC MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS AND KEEP ALL RECEIPTS OF SUCH SERVICE." I take this to mean that it's my responsibility to keep the receipts from all service done.

FYI - For those who are new to TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins), here is a link to a list of TSBs for the RX-8, posted by RotaryNews.com: RX-8 TSBs

Or here: MazdaForum TSB List

Good luck everyone!

Agreed. That's why I have receipts for all the oil I bought and oil filters as I do my own changes.

i bought my car from pacifico mazda. I do not recommend pacifico for service they said that they did the gas tank recall when they really didn't when i bought the car, although i was happy with the deal i got.

I heard from friends that brandywine mazda can be pretty rude and sometimes don't seem to know what they are doing. When i went there to look into buying an 8 the guy treated me like krap and wouldn't even let me test drive a car. I could ride in it while he drove it (?) And i told them i had no interest in a AT and he tryed to sell me on it. I just didn't get it.

I took my car to NuCar Mazda for the brake TSB. Great service really nice people willing to answer any question you have i was really impressed. When i was looking to buy they didn't have any 8's i liked but they were pretty helpful anyway. I would have definitly bought from them if they had one i was interested in. The service tech even looked into the opened recalls for me and told me that pacifico had not even done the recall that they said they did. You can even drop your car or pick it up until 8:00 which is good because i work in KOP and couldn't get down there until then. Its a bit of a drive for me but well worth it for the service. I would say that there the best for the Philadelphia area. I think there are only 2 other places that i haven't experienced around here.

Well, wish me luck, going to Ira tomorrow morning. Hoping to do recall & engine mount TSB (+ regular maintenance oil change & an alignment).

I had my recall done today. Just a reflash and cat inspection. No big issue. Got a crap-*** MPV for a rental. Going to go drop that POS off after work and pickup my car.

No big woop. Will see if I notice any difference in MPG or pickup....

very happy with ira mazda

OK, got my car back from Ira Mazda in Danvers today.

Went in the morning, asked for recall, engine mounts due to hesitation, oil/filter, alignment. Asked to not wash the car. The service writer said that the car wash was broken today anyway. OK, fine. Asked for a Mazda rental, mentioned that Mazda will pay more for a Mazda rental. The service writer seemed a little unsure at first, but said OK. I mentioned a CX-7 and she said they didn't have them yet or something like that. Oh well, didn't care to drive an SUV anyway.

Got a red Mazda3 hatch for a renatl! Was very happy with that actually! Even though it was a slushbox, the handling was still nice (although it could use an alignment) and the automatic tranny was the nice Mazda responsive kind, not the frustrating American type. I had almost no withdrawal symptoms like I did when I got an Echo P.O.S. for the last recall.

Was informed over the phone that the recall was performed, ECU flashed. I doubted that they actually did any testing. I asked for the test results sheet.

When I got there to pick up the car, they gave me a copy of the test results sheet, the alignment results sheet. They did perform the drive test, they did the vacuum test, the cat test, and did change the sparkplugs. The alignment is spot on.

They said that the hesitation was part of the recall and tech didn't detect it on the final drive. I drove the car out and came back. I asked if I could have a tech ride with me. We went for a short drive and he assured me that everything was OK. He said that if you had an engine mount problem, you would really know it, as he has done those replacements. So basically I was being too paranoid. That was actually reassuring.

They did fill up the tank. I saw a slight paw print on the top of the door, but I asked them to not wash the car, so no complaints.

Overall, I'm very happy. They actually did do everything I asked them to do, answered my questions, gave me the test results, did fill up the tank, and I got a good rental (maybe it was my luck that day? what if they had no Mazdas on the rental lot).

Didn't notice any difference in power. Will have to drive more. Haven't noticed any difference in cranking either. Will report back if I do.

You get Mazda3s to drive if you drop your car off for the day at Wellesley Mazda. Downside is you have to schedule an appointment and pay a $5 gas fee for that instead of walk-ins like what Ira offers.

Very reassuring. Thanks Astral.

I've had all my service work performed there and I've always been treated fairly.

Looks like I should schedule my apppointment now that they've become familiar with the process.

Cheers,
Oranje

Recall done today at Faulkner Mazda in Philadelphia.

Starter and plug kit.
Trailing spark plugs.
Starter.
Battery.
Flash.
Car washed.
Gas topped up.

The car starts quickly and runs beautifully. Seems to be a lot peppier.

Faulkner was courteous and efficient. They've been very good to work with, as they have been in the past.

I took my 8 in on Tuesday to get the recall performed and the driver's side sunvisor replaced. They said the engine passed the vacuum test but they replaced the battery, starter, spark plugs and performed the PCM recalibration because I complained of rough starting. They had my car two days and paid for the rental through Enterprise. When I got the car back, it was cleaned inside and out and it had a full tank of gas. All in all it was a good experience.

Hi Jeanie - I'm glad someone went to Tysons first, LOL. That's probably where I'll take mine.

What year is yours again?

FYI to this forum. Apryl was summarily dismissed from her employment with Werner a little over a week ago. Brought in a new guy, told Apryl they were letting her go in favor of this new guy because he was more in line with where Werner wanted to "take the business". My opinion - a real loss to both Werner and the Mazda customer community in the greater "ManchVegas", NH area.

Took my 8 in yesterday to Rosenthal Nissan/Mazda in Tysons Corner Virginia. Took about 5 hours but it was ready same day. Picked it up and it was washed, detailed but now fuel fill-up. I am okay with no fuel fill-up as I am particular about the type of fuel I put in (93 Octane). I trully beleived I would have the engine replaced as I was experiencing low end sluggishness and intermittent sputtering/backfire at idle. My 8 was reflashed and all seems to be cured. Better low end torque and no idling issues. I had the starter, spark plugs and battery replaced in the past so I have no starting issues with the new flash. BTW, rental was also provided, Pontiac.

Thats b.s. from what Kev told me she was a Rotary Head and always gave excelent service. Maybe she was to nice and hence not in line with where they wanted to "take the business" a real shame for Werner since again Kev always raved about 'em now thats one dealer offa my list

Also just realized after installing my Racing Beat Screens that the dealer lost one of my screws to the shrowd under our car when they were fixing my A/C after I bought the car. I have a feeling this somewhat messed up my realignment of my bumber ugh! I asked a good friend who's fiance works as a Lead Tech at a Ford Dealership if he knows any reputable Mazda Dealerships in their area and specificly asked her "Make sure to ask him if they KNOW how to handle a Rotary engine!!". Still havent recieved the letter, though I might just suck it up and goto Gallery Mazda ::sigh:: and ask them to do it. The service guy after I got my tail lights replaced realized our site was on the money with the recall so when I mention the "White Glove Service" he'll know I'll be looking for everything entailed with it.

Voodoo:

I concur. What a loss. Apryl had excellent customer service, knew the 8, and was an all around nice girl. The idiot they have there in service is a moron! I can't believe they let Jim in parts go also. What a loss. I "may" consider going back there only for the mere fact that Mark the service tech is a master rotary mechanic.

What about Tulley in Nashua?

I haven't needed to take my 8 in for service yet, but I was considering Werner due to the good reports I heard about Apryl. I'm sorry to hear she's gone.

What about Tulley in Nashua? Is there service department competent with rotaries? They're closer to my house than Werner anyway.
