New Member! Rotary Lover.
I can honestly say, I've loved rotaries since the seventh grade. My first car at the age of 22 was a 1985 Rx-7 GSLSE, hence my username "5letra". For those who don't speak Spanish, letra means letter. GSLSE = 5 letters. What a car! Many have said that, the Rx-8 will feel similar in terms of acceleration, WOW I can't wait. Hi Power/low weight/great handling sounds all to familiar. Just like my 85 RX. Any one else own the GSLSE? I believe the only 13B Fuel Injected, First generation RX. Only modifications were headers/racing exhaust(Racing Beat), K&N airfilter, lower springs, performance spark plug wires, performance clutch and pressure plate(MAZDATRIX), and Yokohama tires. Could this car fly and it sounded great doing it. Personal Top Speed 138 on the New Jersey Turnpike, not smart, but I am older and wiser. Finally sold the car w/ 150,000 miles, and from what i've heard its still running. My cousin owns it in Florida. Its great to be a member!

Welcome, 5LETRA. I, too, have a 1985 RX7. But the basic S model. Actually bought it in Florida when stationed there. When I went shopping there were no RX7s in the dealer's lot. So this is almost like history repeating itself. Only the wait then was less than a month. Turned out when my RX7 came in it was the LAST first generation received by the dealership. Difficult to believe I have driven this car (as my daily and only car) for 17 1/2 years. TREKN7 now has 257,000 miles and may get to rest a bit when its new little brother arrives:D

GSL-SE owners
I have had 5 RX-7s ; last was a 1990 converible; others were all 1st gens. Last two were 84 GSL-SEs, both unfortunately ended life getting totaled with the last one being my fault, bringing demise to a pristine white on red leather in largely factory like-new condition with only 65K miles at the time. Man those things were fast and smooth from idle to buzz (RPM limiter) all the way through redline +. The only problem I really had with it was on an autocross course it ( at least with me driving ) had a tendency to oversteer pretty readily, which was nice for making small radious turnarounds. But I really miss that car... it's parts are all making other 1st gens happy around the country. Welcome to the forum!
