So CTrx8 how are your kids doing? My wife, and I thought they were very cute, and they made us miss our kids very much(okay a little bit). Our youngest is now 17 months old,and is a total terror around the house. He just today got ahold of the computer mouse, ans completly hosed up the computer. Ahh Kids!! Ya gotta love 'em.

When should this become a sticky?
The more folks see it the more folks join in the more folks the merrier.
If we hit Lake Placid this year at least they should have new black top and all the roads open. We should also make a concerted effort to populate one hotel if possible.

ahh. The summit was nice enough, and the cheaper of the 2 (summit & hilton), although it was under construction still. I would assume they are done by now.

i don't know where to look but we should check to make sure there's not another big convention or car show like last time. i'm sure there's some sort of lake placid chamber of commerce or convention center folks that we can call and see what they have scheduled.

I think this year I'll take the 8.
Maybe it would be helpful for others if the folks that went last year estimated the total cost $$$$ so new comers know what to expect and can make a better informed decision.???

I'm not the organizer of the trip, but having lived in the Adirondacks all my life I would not schedule it for anytime before the second week of May. Snow is not uncommon up there even at the end of May. When I was in college (at Paul Smith's right near Lake Placid) we had a 3 inch snow storm on June 7.
For reference: you'll probably spend about $150 in gas, $100 for hotel, and $50/person for food. Just a rough estimate - it could easily be $50 either side of $300.
