I kinda knew but I wasn't sure, but I had no idea it used motec, that's a good thing, I wish the pic was at a better angle I'd like to know some of their tricks to keep it cool and make more power

I think that thing is pushing out around 450 hp n/a

For exactly how u ended ur sentece, it doesn't matter, the only difference between 20b rotor housing and the ones used I the FD is the little 13b and 20b stamps

I'm almost positive racing beat built that engine

so for my dd I am starting to look at some 92- 95 civic hatches .... I honestly feel like I will have better luck finding an all original FD than a non-riced out hatch ... its sad

your probably right, however you used, like everyone else on the forums does, the wrong terminology

i still cant figure out why everyone calls that engine, i dont even know what to call it, the rew when the FD came with a 13b-rew, even the 99 spec fd with the updated port sizes came with a 13b-rew

hell the term rew stands for "rotary engine double turbo" since the japanese dont have a word for double

its even more annoying when i hear people say "oh i got the rew engine but i wana get a brew engine"

all ya did was just move the b to the right of the -

im not arguing im just saying...it doesnt make any sense

if someone can enlighten me id greatly appreciate it

I dont think its the wrong terminology when that's the universal term that everyone know's it as....??? that's how Dave from "KDR" explained the difference between 20b motors and our standard 13b's... he said "the 13b-rew is like a 2rotor 20b, because of the ports"....

Thats like going on 7club and telling people there using the wrong terminology for by saying "ratsnest"..lol..

When in doubt ....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Wankel_engine#13B-RE

RE = cosmo two rotor - different port sizes

REW = FD motor

I think the intake porting is more aggressive on the RE? I could be wrong, I do haz an rx8

I probably shouldn't even know that there is such thing as an RE

Stink got it, I knew I was forgetting something you did actually rew is what the FD had re is the 20b and the special 13b had, what I was referring to was a whole nother can of worms, were people, I've even heard some oldschool guys say, call the FD engine rew and the re engine brew( but you say it like brew the word not b.r.e.w.) but I was definetly wrong

As for the ratsnest thing, it's not exactly the same concept, because ratsnest is more of a nickname for the vaccum system, because supposedly it looks like a real one, though I've never seen a real ratsnest before lol

so yeah I think the intake port timing is a bit more agressive on the RE if memory serves me right ... it pushes the curve like 1.5 k higher, but eats into low end a bit

The exhaust ports on the REW are larger tho?

if memory serves right ...

when it comes to the Furai ... I would imagine it was a one off job with some exotic porting ... so all this is out of the window anyway

The 20b housings have weaker castings. Most high hp 3 rotors will use the newer 13b's housing, and yea racing beat built that.

Also, if i remember the actual ports are the same they just have restrictive sleeves on the 20b's for a quieter exhaust ( it was a luxury car after all lol)

Mazda japan actaully contacted them which is pretty cool.

i dont know anything about rotaries i always got confused with the retarded terminology..
i interpreted it as...
referring to rx7s.. rew=13b-rew re= 13b-re
referring to rotaries ingeneral rew= rx8 brew= rx7

but even as i type taht i still dont know and idk if that even makes sense.......
