MY "Pandora" HAS FINALLY JOINED THE NEW TRANSMISSION CLUB
It has finally happened. The problem that I have been Bitching about since 10K miles has finally degraded enough to warrant a new transmission
The trans issue started with grinding into and out of 5th gear at high RPM's, it started getting worse til I changed to synthetic trans fluid. That lasted about 8k miles til the other day on Friday when shifting from Reverse to 1st and heard a thump. That led to a sluggish 1st gear shifting. once in gear though, the sound of the transmission was a metalic swirling that was terrible in sound from 1st-3rd and still hearable in higher gears but not as noticable.
Long story short the car went to the dealership, after 2 days they called me told me it is the trans was bad. DUH. And that it is from the weak forks and weak bearings. they figure the swirling was coming from bearing failures.
The good news is that the replacement parts are the larger stronger parts installed in the 06 and 07 models. the dealership said that originally they weren't allowed to do rebuilds. however since the problem began they have finally gotten the ok to do rebuilds.
Since this problem happened... the good news is the dealership said they will instal the new ACT CLUTCH and the new ACT prolite Flywheel that i purchased for install next summer.
SO now i can only wait and wait til my parts come in and are installed and then I will be very happy...
I will defin. write up a review on how the new parts are once installed and i still have to write up a review of the JIC suspension I installed the day before the transmission went.
At least i won't have the 5th gear issue anymore.
