Moving to NJ and need advice.

Hey NJ Folks!

My employer is moving their facility from PA to NJ (Piscataway) by the end of October, so, I'm moving and need some advice. Anyone have recommendations on apartments and automobile insurance companies? Also, I might need a place to store the RX-8 in the winter, any recommendations on a storage facility?

-Thanks

If your company makes you eligble - NJ Manufacturers is the best if you have a clean record.

As far as apartments near Piscataway - it depends on how nice you like and what your budget is, and where in Piscataway you'll be at.

I used to live at Oxford Arms

You should take a look at NJCURE too, for my gf it was as cheap as geico

I have a good rate from USAA, but they're hard to get into

1014/yr
500 collision deductible
100 comprehensive deductible

My wife is on my policy, but the RX-8 is the only car.

Where you live is also important. I would expect my annual policy to go up $200 if I were in Middlesex County.

NJM also gives annual dividends.

2300.....but i'm 23, single, and live in an apartment. I was in an accident 2 years ago, not my fault, but I still think it counts against me. My friend got a geico quote....completely clean record for about 1700 a year, same age/situation

I'm paying about 1600 a year right now in Allentown PA, 24, single, live in an apartment. My driving record is hardly clean, 1 accident (rear ended in December) and 1 moving viloation (speeding).

The nightmare scenario of having to sell the 8 due to insane insurance has already occured.

I'm doing the opposite of you. I used to work near Piscataway (in Somerset actually), and now commute out to Allentown. I live in Hillsborough, about 5mi south of Somerville. My insurance is High Point (used to be Prudential), runs about $1050/yr, but I've got a multi-car discount...

Unfortunately, with 120mi commute each day, I wound up buying an old Honda Civic POS to commute with (40+ mpg) in order to keep the miles off the '8. So, the '8 is now reserved for weekends/evenings...

Thumbs up NJM is the best

$1,030 full cover for my rx8 and $570 liability for another car on my policy NJM is the best

if you have a clean record. apartments Hackesack, englewood, lodi or even bergenfield is not bad.

you want some advice... Dont move to Jersey.... Insurance is expensive, rent is more expensive, and the winter sucks...want some advice more to Florida where there is no emissions inspection and everything is cheaper

Jersey is a beotch on $$$. But so is every state/city with locality to NYC, the center of the known universe... There is a price to pay, and yes, we do make much more money to adjust for cost of living. And there is nothing like being able to experience NYC every weekend on a whim....

some good points made
I personally live 10-15 mins from NYC I guess I take that for granted since its always just been a hop skip and a jump away.
