Wouldn't a NA miata still be as fast as a NA rx8?

Presumably, although mine is 200lbs heavier, and the only thing to offset that is the fact that the turbine will still be spooling on exhaust energy a bit, not enough to generate boost, but enough to increase the intake efficiency more than an N/A car.

After all, most turbo cars show a power increase over N/A versions even before boost kicks in.

I really do hope you come. It gives me a chance to relive my MSM glory days! lol

I was actually drooling over a new black club edition on the street last wknd. I just hate how depreciation proof those cars are. I really see myself owning one again someday.

The track car I want to build would be a 2009-2014 NC. Plentiful enough that finding a wrecked one without frame damage is entirely viable, parts lists are cheap, cheap running costs, really lightweight and can be stripped a hell of a lot lower and ballasted up to competition weight, has the RX-8's suspension under it (if a shorter wheelbase), I/H/E puts it to NASA TTE class power to weight limits with enough points left over for really good coilovers, sways, and sticky tires. Or I can bump to TTD class, adding a tune to be right on that class's p/w, with a ton of points left over for 285 width A6s. The reason I'd go for a 2009+ rather than a cheaper 2006-2008, is that the engine internals are strengthed, so if I want to add FI and jump TTC-A, I can do that with "free" upgrades that won't cost me money or mod points.

Just the MSM is too rare to turn into a full on track car, and too uncomfortable to use as a daily. I tried getting a piece of both worlds, but ended up with neither. So I just need a car for each.

I picked up a compression tester, so that is the first thing I'm doing, then I think I'm going to pull the exhaust from the cat to the tips, leaving only the downpipe, and give it another test. If that solved it, then that solved it, but I suspect it won't. Several experts are telling me that it is probably a set of stretched manifold-to-turbo studs, and I already have a set of iconel studs on hand to swap in.

If I haven't pulled the turbo yet before Saturday morning, I'll drive down for it, even though it's wasting time.

I was at the last local dealer new car show and sat in one. So did my fiancee. I couldnt believe how roomy and comfortable they are when compared with my msm. My fiancee stared at me blankly and said it felt like a deathtrap.

Ironically my stepfather is shopping for another NA (chassis).

I think they also fixed the looked of the refreshed NC and the stock suspension is supposed to be worlds better. I would get claustrophobic by the end of each winter in the msm.

I cherished the stigma attached to the MSM. Nothing better than wiping someone's smirk off their face pulling away from them at a dead stop. It just never had the top end. And the stock 205/40 tire punishes you.

I am showing up solo as well. The "wife" is not a fan of my aggressive driving. Gets nausea.

Yeah, BOV failure it looks like. Hunting for a replacement I could get in time, but it's unlikely unless maybe Keck still has a sparee laying around somewhere?

I was never on the stock wheel/tire combo, I bought mine with 15s already on it, and going to aftermarket coilovers meant I was lower, stiffer, but also more comfortable. The stock shocks are brutally valved compared to the springs. The 3.63 rear gear gives me plenty of top end though. 104mph is top of 4th, 2 more gears to go. Aero stability gets to be a problem at 130, but I could get plenty higher on the stock IHI turbo at 202whp. Once this one is working right...

I imagine I've surprised quite a few people dropping the hammer from a light, but I've never been slow enough to be back where they are to find out. I know I HAVE shocked quite a few people on the top end though, like pulling up Mt Hope on I-80 at part throttle in 6th gear from ~75 to um, much much higher, and once I back off, someone comes roaring up behind me, and slows, looking the car over like "WTF!" It's usually a BMW that does that. Happened a dozen or so times.

Ironically I do have an old school greddy type s laying around. Unfortunately its buried in a pile of tools and car parts in the back of a 20x10 storage facility waiting for me to move into my new house aug 29. Either way I wouldnt have the universal greddy flange for it. I also had a greddy type rs and I sold the flange with it.

VTA ALL DAY EVERY DAY!!! lolol

I once had a Prof/Sheepdog bov on my mr2. Talk about rare.....

Is that the euro final gear? My first year with the msm I put 30k on it all highway and was debating getting it. 4k at 80mph in 6th just flat out sucked.

The definition of irony is Jesse being the only person showing up with a significant other.

IIRC last time Sonic followed me up to your place, it took like 1.5 hours.

Yeah, I'll be going VTA at some point. Turns out it's not my BOV after talking with some experts. Back to the drawing board.

Wasn't sold in Europe, but yeah, the Australian gearing. 80mph is 3,600rpm in 6th, and 6th gear doesn't hit rev cut until 154mph.

Thats right. My memory is a bit foggy. I remembered it was somewhere overseas. There was a big rush on the boards to get it and then people starting having issues with garages installing it so I wussed out.

Its a shame you won't be able to make it. Someday I'll make it up there.

At this point I probably can make it, just postpone pulling the exhaust until after I get back. Who knows, I might find a clog in my intake piping late tonight and suddenly have full power back for tomorrow

or I could pull my exhaust anyway and drive down there like that...
