I'll be there with my VR. Totally stock except for HP Plus brake pads and B&B exhaust. Oh, and some premix in the tank.

It'll be my first big track event. Tonight the DOT4 goes in the brakes. I still need to find standard lugnuts to replace the wheel locks for the event.

Make sure you use a high-temp brake fluid like SuperBlue. If you still need some lug nuts let me know and I'll bring some with me. Look for my black 2nd gen with Rotary Diagnostics signage on it.

Hi Larry, that stuff won't hurt anything, but it is overkill for most cars, and seriously expensive.

If your fluid is fresh and clean, it will be just fine. I use Castrol LMA or Valvoline, which are both DOT 4, readily available, and not very expensive. Bleed them before you go to the track, and all will be well. I use them in my race car too. (Speed Bleeders rock, btw.)

Are you bringing one of your testers down?

Yeah, I'll probably bring a couple different models. See you there.

Larry

BTW, How do you like the RX-8? Paul O. said that you've already had it on the track. I haven't had mine on the track yet, but plan to do that at the Labor Day event. Gotta upgrade the brake pads, install SpeedBleeders and replace the brake fluid with some of that expensive stuff. Already installed real gauges to keep an eye on temps.

I got Castrol for the brakes. I should be able to scrounge up the lugs by then, but I appreciate the offer, Larry. I'll keep it in mind just in case. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys.

actually november at summit would be ideal for the 8's, our little wankel engine do love itself some chilly weather!

plus we'd be wearing long sleeves while on track anyway, turn up the heater in the car! lol

Couldn't find anyone with extras here so I ordered them at the dealer. They should be here Thursday. I'll look for you if they don't come through.

OK. I'll be at the Friday tech inspection if you still need them.

what a track event! i'm exhausted, sun burnt, and glad to be back home in one piece. so the car held up very well and performed like a beast. i just need a little more practice on VIR Grand East, but overall, i got it down.

the car started to over heat once. but that was mid day at about 100 degree heat. not too bad. my turbo oil feed line started to oil, but i got that all squared away. overall, i had a blast.

nice meeting you G-Rex and Wankelbolt. hope to see you guys later on at Summit Point!!!

glad to hear the heat didn't give you too much trouble dan, and that you had a great time despite the hot weather

how did everyone else fare over the weekend?

What a blast! It took me 3 sessions to really remember the track - it's so damn large. I had a great instructor that took me up by leaps and bounds. I thought I would be more tentative on the track (just my personality) but between my instructor and the car, I felt totally comfortable. What an amazing machine. I took a ride with one of the instructors in his stock 8 and realized I am nowhere near the capability of the car yet, especially with the brakes.

It was great meeting Larry and Dan. I probably won't make another event until next year, but I'm hooked. BTW, damned pretty car Dan.
