spotted another member today. he actually parked next to me and came out of the movies in hyattsville the same time my girl and i were leaving.
i'll put up a pic soon. i think he said his name was ThePest. sunlight silver with a greddy exhaust and black stockers!
remember how my car got hit for thanksgiving? well for christmas i need a new battery. it seems after not driving the car for a week, my already weak battery decided to give up its life. and people wonder why i hate holidays...

Alright Greg...or anyone else...but since Greg knows everything, I thought I'd start with him... 
.....so I got my first "problem" with my baby. It's probably nothin huge, but I just wanna make sure since none of the three 8s I've owned have done this:
So crappy winter storm...rally car drivin all the way home. She was tucked away in the garage for 4 days...(started her up after two days and let her hum for a while) and then I started her, let her run...and then disengaged the e-brake, and put it into reverse and...KACHUNK!...followed by a nasty smell. Felt a little weird on my feet backing out of the driveway, like something was a little off but, got going and everything seemed fine. Go on vacation...she sat for 9 days...started her up, let her run a while and then same thing...disengaged the e-brake, put her in reverse...KACHUNK!...and the nasty smell again. The smell was kinda similar to burnin the clutch...(not that I have ever done that....
) but I don't think it's the clutch...so the e-brake?...if so, what the crap is wrong with it!? Any advice would be appreciated

WTF, why are you putting me on the spot???
Im not familiar nor have researched the new trannys, I think after the 07s(BMW trannys) Mazda switched back over to thier own(I think, haven't really bothered figuring out anything dealing with the SII's)
But if it is an instant breaking noise, like your 'popping loose' when backing up, its just that, your brakes were stuck and have broken away from the rotors. It typically happens after sitting for a few days and being in a moist environment. From your description it does seem to be this since your noticing it after youve already engaged Reverse and are dropping the e-brake,,, Its not damaging anything if it is this, however the smell is dishartening, dont know, if it is something in your tranny get it checked out, but it doesnt seem like it is, so I dont know what the smell could be? Are you warming your car up before leaving or just taking off on a cold start???

I leave it run for a while. On this 8...there is the normal red line...and then when you turn it on and its not warm...theres a red line for dummies. There's two sections...5k and 7k and then when it's fully warmed up its paralleled to the normal red line. I don't take off until its in sync with the normal red line...
Prob the e-brake then. And if you didn't know so much about the 8 then I wouldn't put you on the spot!

And to Molly, mine does that sometimes but no smell so far, it sounds to me like a clunking noise but never worried about it.
