I have a feeling it is the RB plug wires causing your problems. I remember the first time my car was on the dyno and had the same problem has you with the ignition cutting out at high rpms. That night i got new wires and the problem was gone the next day and confirmed on the dyno. I would order a set of spark plug wires from BHR. IMO you just need wires to fix your problem

Shell - Dave was finishing up that rx7. Lucky I was getting of the dyno soon after they completed it. The 7 still had to be tuned that night so not sure what time Dave and his helper got out of there.

I'm sure if it was earlier we could of placed my stock one back in to be safe but i got a week or two before it kills over (hopefully)

What time did you get home? Sucks you can't monitor fuel pressure!

Could be the wires.
I'm going to head back up there with the OE wires and the coils that were just replace this summer (still in good condition) and see what happens. If there still a problem, then I guess it's time for BHR

I had RB wires on a few years ago and pulled over 200 whp on the dyno.

sounds like you guys had a fun (and exhausting) but it seems worth all the effort.
sorry to hear about fuel pump issues, I'm surprised to hear that the Walbro failed ya, that's typically a very good upgrade.

Mark's #s should be coming up soon... he's going in with basically the same setup but has boost control and upgraded injectors...

The 6 port NA 40th auto had (we're thinking) ignition problems. I don't think he got much over 160.

The MM turbo w/ methanol got in the mid 200s... I think I read 240ish a little earlier.

The remaining 4 port NA was in the 120s... think he's going to pull his cat.

One additional 6MT ran but I don't have his numbers... I think he's got a fairly "new" engine so it should be good to see what the remans are making.
I am the 6mt that ran at the end - 3 week old engine - smidge under 197 whp and 141 tq - very pleased. Jeff said basically there wasn't much fine tuning needed from the factory...

great meet guys it's been a while since i've gone - good to meet everybody and fun to check out all the other cars/stuff in the shop....

He was running really rich when I left. Not sure what ultimately held him back. I'm sure he'll chime in at some point.

Awesome #s on the reman... Goes to show how well the new Virginia facility is doing!

Unless you have one of the outsourced motors like I did. Failed at 1400 miles. New motor was not outsourced and has around 850 miles. Still too early to tell but so far so good.

I hung out while Dave tuned the RX-7. We finally left there around 1:45 am.

Perhaps.
The car was making no more power at 9 PSI than it was at 7.

Getting on my flight out of Allentown in 10 minutes...

Get home safe Jeff, if you can think of anything I could do to help with my problem please let me know. I'm going to take the proper steps to solve the problem. Hopefully, its get a simple ignition issue.

It was nice seeing all the familiar faces and the new ones.

Great time guys!

Dyno day was a lot of fun, I enjoyed finally putting some faces to the names I see here often of the forums.

The highest number I pulled for the night was the last run (#24) which was 245rwhp I believe. The car had been getting in the 230s until the last run where it jumped up to 245. I maintain the position that I am not shooting for a specific number as I said many times prior to getting up on the dyno but it is true that the car's numbers were low considering Dave told me most normal GReddy MTs pull in the 260s on his dyno.

The current hypothesis is that my rx7store highflow cat is holding back the setup significantly and I will test this by ordering an OBX test pipe since it is just a straight pipe without resonators even and then compare the logs at that point. Compression was tested about 3-4 months ago and very healthy and the cat has less than 1500 miles on it so it is highly unlikely it is completely blocked. Dave was saying that the magnaflow cats are made in such a way with a rotary turbo they might prove even more restrictive than the OEM.

The car is still running very rich as well, at WOT it will go down to 10 and then stay around 10-10.4 until redline. Boost comes in strong and spools to 12psi then starts falling off rapidly down to around 7 at redline but I still need to fill up my methanol bottle so I wasn't pushing it TOO much.

I'll update my build thread shortly with more details.

The benchmark for that kit is around the 300 mark so your primary goal should be to get close to that level . Otherwise what was the point in getting the 3071 ?
