Kancamagus Highway Rotary Run 2009

Here's the Official Game Plan:

Rotary Amuse / Synaptic3 Rotary Run 2009

Saturday May 2nd Schedule:
Meeting Place: Exit 20 off of Route 93 in Tilton, NH at Tilton Island Park
Meeting Time: 11:00am

Saturday Schedule:
11:00: Meet up at Tilton Island Park
11:20: Driver's Meeting
11:30: Start Drive
190+- miles, 5 and half + hours of driving. Kancamagus Highway and Hurricane Mountain Road.
Lunctime: G&H Pizza in Lincoln, NH. No set time as it will be when we get there
7:30: Dinner after cruise ends. Tentative time as we will site see along the way. I will make reservations at a restaurant that can support all of us for 7:30.
End cruise in Conway, Nh. Please try to find a hotel in the area. We are trying to find a hotel that will give us a discount.

Sunday:
8:00am: Meet at Hotel where everyone is staying.
8:20: Drivers Meeting
8:30: Start Cruise to Bear Notch
10:30: cruise from Bear Notch Run to Synaptic 3 Engineering Shop
1:30: Synaptic3: Meet and Greet, Shop Tour, BBQ, dyno runs

I will PM everyone my phone number before the event, that way you can call me in case you are running late. I understand there are a lot of people coming up from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and one from Maryland for this event and that would be horrible if we left without you. Please try to get to the meeting point early though. I will most likely be at the Tilton Island Park for 10, so look for a all Black RX-7.

Things to Bring:
Your car in good working order.
A friend or 3 (depending on what vehicle you are bringing.)
Tools
Oil
Coolant (If need be. I always bring mine just in case.)
Water and other drinks
Snacks
Gas money
Food money
Map of Area
Print out of the Maps above, or at least the directions
Cell phone
Walkie Talkie

Rules:
I want this event to go off as smoothly as possible and I want all attendants to be as safe as possible. Responsible driving will be expected at all times. The roads we will be driving on will be open to the public, meaning there will be traffic going both ways. No cutting corners on the mountain roads.

You will get one warning if you are driving irresponsibly. The second notice will be a request to leave the cruise. I don't want to be a buzzkill, but i don't want anyone getting hurt. One irresponsible person could ruin a whole weekend for everyone.

Its kind of a common law, but please don't litter. What we take with us we will take out with us. The country is beautiful and we should try to preserve it as such.

No speeding, highway roads or back roads.

Have fun. We are here for that one thing. So lets make this a great event that we can hopefully make an annual occurrence.

T-shirts:

Price: $23. (The price to print one is $25, the price to print 5 is $24.40 each, the price to get 10 is $23.65 each, and so on. I Imagine we will get at least 10 requests, so I will set the price at $23. i am not going to make any money on this, but I will need to at least cover the costs to make them.)

T-shirts will be available for this cruise and you can either have them mailed to you or pick them up at the event.

Unfortunately i cannot front the money to print up a lot of different sizes, so you will have to prepay for them. I would prefer PayPal for payment, but will accept a Money order or Cashier's check.

If you would like a T-shirt please email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com with the title "Kancamagus T-Shirt" and include your name, t-shirt size, t-shirt quantity, preferred payment, PayPal account if applicable, way of picking it up (at event or mailed to you,) if mailed out please include an address for me to mail it to.

Thanks for helping make this happen. Lets try to make this the best event that we can.

I hope to see you all there. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at ZumSpdRX7@yahoo.com

I would probably be up for this, assuming gas is still pretty cheap (long way from PA)

That's what I was thinking. Another good run is the Cape run Altspace puts on every year...

I'll go to any of the cruises, but if they're far away, it'd be cool to cruise with a few cars to get out to wherever it is (no GPS and I hate mapquest directions).

I'll be up for pretty much anything in the area assuming I can get my car running right by spring.
If we do Kancamagus, we definitely need someone who knows the area, as it can be a really busy road at the wrong times.

Well, I can tell you the reasons I know the bad running isn't from... It's not the spark plugs, it's not the coils, and it's not the eccentric position sensor.

I'm getting nasty misfires at reasonably high RPM's (varies from day to day and gear to gear, last night with the clutch in I couldn't rev past 6.5k,) and I've already replaced the above parts.
This weekend I'll be cleaning the MAF and replacing the plug wires. I'm not optimistic...

I'm interested in any mountain runs. These roads are all way too much fun to pass up, especially with a long line of rotary powered machines screaming around.

Time to put the Spring Run 07 pic back into the sig.

mmmmm . . . long lines of hot cars . . .

I wish I could help you solve the problem. I'm not the most knowledgeable yet on rotaries as I've only owned one for about six months. Have you looked into asking Mazda to diagnose? (I know everyone hates to do that but I would if your problem consists after this weekend.)

I see your located in RI, not too far from where I am. If we get anything together that's a bit of a drive, I'd be down for meeting up beforehand to cruise there.

Fine by me. As long as gas prices don't blow up again this summer this run (and/or the Spring Run) should have plenty of CT members travelling up with you.

Agreed, I'm definitely hoping these gas prices will last at least until summer, then I'll be willing to cruise just about anywhere.

I would be down

Updated; from my rally site this is the route they said to take. He has done this route for fun all the time

Take Kanc.. from Lincon, NH to N.Conway, then 302/16 North through N.Conway then just outside as your exiting N. Conway you'll reach a suburb called INTERVALE (just after you pass the Catherdral Ledge on left).
You'll make a right from RT302/16N onto Hurrican Mt road and follow over the top of the mountain then down the backside.
Bear left at the bottom of this road and follow North to Rt 113B, leading into Rt113, passing over the Maine border through the "Evan's Notch" then take a left onto RT2 west (the same road we were on in the Aug Rally), then another left onto RT16 south past the Mt. Washington Auto Road, which will lead you back to N. Conway
..you'll thank me later : )

im thinking the first weekend of May; a weekend to relax before finals week for me.

what do you guys think?

i'd like to make this a good turn out, but i cant stress enough how much i want to keep this a safe, responsible meet. i know it is hard to deal with a big crowd, but i would appreciate it everyone drove respectfully for everyone involved and everyone else on the road. i hate to sound like a buzz kill, cause i know how much fun the road is to drive on; but i want this to be something we will be welcome to come back to year after year. im sure we have all seen where one irresponsible person can ruin it for everyone. if you had something else in mind, please do us all a favor, and come back on your own time. again, i apologize for sounding like a poon; but there's a time and place for everything, and an open road Kanc is not the place for stupidity.
