My car has been off the road for so long that apparently I'm starting to forget stuff about it. I was hit from behind six weeks ago, hard ($8000-plus worth of hard), and I remember that the black piece where the rear accent goes had, like, a punched hole in it. No biggie, a plastic piece, they'll just replace it, right? (That's nothing compared to new rails, new floor, new cut-in quarter panel, CHOKE! ) I go to look at it tonight, again (I've been stopping to see it twice a week) and that plastic piece has a perfect little square piece in it now, like they just patched the hole.

As I was looking at that, and other stuff overall, a worker came out and I showed it to him. He said no, that's supposed to be there. He tugged on it, and I gotta admit, it looks like some kind of little door... ? to something... ? No clue. But I thought I knew my car really well, every tiny scratch on it, every little nuance, and I don't remember ever seeing a little door there before!! WTH???

Do you guys have that thing too? Sorry, no pics here It's to the right of the rear accent, maybe 2 inches by 2 inches big.

Are you referring to the square plug for the tow hooks?

Apparently yes! Doh! Was that seriously there all this time, on ALL RX-8s, and I've looked at hundreds of cars at tons of meets and seriously never saw it??? How embarrassing... now I feel like justagirl, eww!
