NY first speeding ticket -_-

So...... unmarked cops... long island expressway... 11 pm... having to take a ****... = disaster.

I got 2 tickets tonight, one for going 75 in a 55, and one for crossing the HOV line.. That second one is bullshit, cuz i tried to exit, but i couldn't and ended up crossing the line after the designated exits.. but ANYWAYS, here's what i need help on. The cop wrote the ticket.. but being the fat pig he is, he fucked up. this is what he did

The ticket was issued at "22:43 11/27/09" and he wrote the 'return by mail before or in person on' for "12:00 PM 11/27/09"

can i get this ticket dismissed purely on that? help out a fellow nyorker =(

^That may be pushing it, as they may state any reasonable person can understand what the officer was trying to imply. Although, they have thrown out cases for lesser circumstances. Good luck and post the outcome.

in retrospect you should consider yourself lucky that he didn't peg you going just 1 more mph over the speed limit.. then you'd be getting 6 pts and a driver assesment thing where you have to pay $300 over 3 years in addition to whatever fine the ticket is..

my first speed ticket was about 4 months ago (LEAVING RAY'S PLACE) and it was 70 in a 50.. i'm finally going to court for it next month.. i repeatedly rescheduled the hearing.. im gonna just go myself, and plead guilty but explain that it was my first and only traffic violation ever and hope for leniency.. ill pay the fine, just dont want the pts..

After reading these threads about tickets on the LIE, I'm going to follow the flow of traffic. I frequently do 80mph on the LIE to and from exit 40E for Syosset. Spot cops very often but never got a ticket. Sorry to hear, man.

Hey man, I don't think they are going to give it to you. I think you have to be going at the MAX over 10MPH. If its over than that your screwed.

It all depends on the judge too...

Good luck. The both of you.

spoke to a few lawyers, and the going rate is set at $350, and they can knock my ticket down to 2 points. I'm gonna go with Gary Miller, he seems to take care of alot of rx8's and i'll rather stick with someone who know what he's doing. Thanks again guys

Your lawyer should aim for no points, but willing to settle for 2 after trying for none with the prosecutor.

I dont know about NY but NJ has bs online course to get rid of those 2 points for less than $40. Look into that.

Yea I know this from "experience" because the same cop had another guy and it was his first ticket and he was going over 10mph so the judge didn't let it go by.

But in some states is different. This was in RI. so idk how different it is in other states. But I have something that helps me out. I dont know if anybody wants this same service that I have but its SO CONVENIENT and HELPFUL!!!

If you want more information contact me.
