The DMV in Lodi..... i should have known it was gonna be a bad day when the woman at the beginning asked me ''How many cylinders does your car have?" and i replied its a 1.3L Rotary... end result was a 20 min conference with another 2 inspectors who deemed it to be 2 cylinders......................................... ................ :O

Your GPS should be ok. But it if your tail lights are real bad then you will fail. I worked at firestone an had to fail a Lexus because of the headlights having water in them. But unless u have fish in your lights i would have passed you.

Well the tail lights I could some what understand.

The GPS I see as it would be a I gues distraction or limitation of view. ie why you cant have stuff hanging from rear view mirror

They are out of control took my girlfriends car to get inspected and they failed it because she had a small sticker on the upper left corner of the windshield saying she had remote start in the car. So we took the sticker off and went back to the re-inspection area and passed. It is BS. They are just making more work for themselves. This one was in Wayne

Odd considering some states like MA require state inspection stickers in the window.

The laws in those states tend to specifically allow inspection stickers. In Virginia inspection stickers are noted. They have to be placed in the bottom center of the windshield, in the arc that the windshield wipers never clear. We can have other stickers on the widnshield, as long as they're in the top couple of inches and don't obstruct vision. Nowadays oil change places seem to enjoy putting "Next change due..." stickers in the top left.

That NJ inspection station probably thought the GPS was some kind of sticker.
