VA Driving help in Nothern VA

I've had my RX-8 (R3) for 2 months and I absolutely love it.
I don't feel like I'm doing the best job with the clutch and gas, rev-matching, heel-toe, etc. I have trouble preventing the car from lurching when starting from a stop, and shifting into 2nd. I'm worried I'm forming bad habits.

Are there any experienced RX-8 drivers in the area that'd be willing to go for a drive with me and offer some guidance, tell me what I'm doing wrong, etc? I'm in Herndon, willing to drive up to an hour or so for guidance. I'll even buy lunch!

Work on one thing at a time. For start stops find a large parking lot and have at it. Practice makes perfect. Once you get that then start working on the harder stuff.

I guess in part I want someone to verify that it's responding as it should be. I don't have any comparison to know if the clutch needs to be replaced, or if there are any issues *other* than me.

Come to the NASA Autocross in Dinwiddie and I'll teach you anything you want for driving, from normal operation to proper heel-toe and left foot braking even. It's best to come to an event such as an auto-x where you can explore the car's abitlity and your own in a safe and controlled environment. Don't be worried about being a "new" guy at it, we get new drivers every event.

For more details, just check out NASA Mid-Atlantic Autocross 2013 » fun with cars and cones or contact me directly about specific RX8 questions through PM here, our facebook page (facebook.com/twitchyracing) or our website

JL1RX7 - I think you should bring your RX8 down to the next event too. Last fling for auto-x for the season in most areas!
