Dealer Review: Partyka Mazda in Hamden, CT
Having just come back from getting my 8 serviced for the first time, I wanted to share my experience with this dealer in hopes to hear more feedback from other members on their experiences with Partyka in Hamden.
At 18,000 miles I brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. I mentioned that there was condensation in the tail light, a squealing sound from the front brakes, and a rough idle when the engine is warm. I also told them they might have a problem getting the wheels off the car, as the dealership I bought it from did not include the keys for the aftermarket wheel locks.
The initial estimate was $35 for an oil change and $20 for the rotation ($60 total after tax), and that they would call me if the additional problems raised the estimate price. I brought the car in at 8am and told them I needed to be at work for 9, and they offered to give me a ride.
I got a call back around 4pm telling me that the car was ready to be picked up. I arrived after the service department was closed and looked over the paperwork, which indicated that they had replaced the front brake pads at no charge and that a new tail light was on order (at no charge as well). There was also a note that the wheel locks had been removed and replaced with standard lugs. However, there was no mention of rought idle.
Overall, I'd rate my experience with Partyka as positive: the service bay way large and busy, and the service tech I spoke to gave me an accurate initial estimate ($60), though I feel the price was a little steep for the oil change. There were also a few other 8's in the service bay, so it looks like they know what they're doing with rotaries. I had also already anticipated leaving my car at the shop for the entire day, so I was not at all inconvenienced.
I'll be bringing my 8 back to Partyka if I need any additional service done... and I will be mentioning to them that the engine still idles rough when I go get the tail light installed.
(side note: while looking up the recall notice for the tail light condensation, I found the recalls for squealing front brakes and rough idle, so I knew what to ask for when dropping it off for service... do your research!)

I've bought two RX 8's from Partyka and have never had an issue w/service with them. They try to accomodate your schedule as much as possible and if you make the appt ahead of time, the service tech will take a ride w/you to determine what you're hearing. Perhaps whoever answered the phone didnt note the rough idle.
