DC Mazda Rev it UP!!
A bunch of friends and I signed up for it months ago, so I'll be there Saturday. Also I'll be bringing my new RX-8 along (got it last friday and haven't stopped smiling since). Any other RX-8 owners planning on attending? I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow owners in the DC/Baltimore area.
About 15 MSCW members were there at 7am for VIP/Media half-day and the Friday competition. I was the first Mazda Enthusiast to bring their RX-8 for display at a Rev It Up event. We displayed a total of seven cars today till 6pm. Pictured below are the rotary participants next to the RX-8 tent. (All our 2nd Gen cars had previous commitments) Saturday and Sunday this will be the Mazda Sportscar Club of Washington tent. Thanks to my time on this forum I was able to answer a whole lotta questions for people stopping by to look at the Winning Blue RX-8 and my own Black GT RX-8.
We did the competition for fun today. And it IS a lot of fun. Mazda has produced a very well planned and professional event. Look for a repeat Rev It Up within 24 months due to the success of this tour. No, the autocross vehicles will not be RX-8s next time.
If you are in the area, stop by! Competition slots are filled but there is other stuff to see and do. Don't forget to get your free Falken Tire poster.

I was gonna go check it out today, then I got on I-66 and traffic was a bitch, and it was getting really hot out there, so I turned around and went home to enjoy the nice cool AC instead :D
I will drop by the MSCW monthly meet next Wed to check out the new rides!

I was there with my silver rx-8. Saw a blue, black, and blue RX-8. People were checking them out all the time.
Got my insurance today. It went up $158. Sure is a crime when I never had to use it.
Oh well still cheaper then most places so I guess $1,111 for a year isn't bad.
I just love the navi. I'm never getting another car without it. Which will prob be when I get 200k on this car in 10 years. :D

Well, I was there all day Friday and Saturday and felt like the local RX-8 "expert"
Did see a couple forum members who stopped by. Maybe some others, too, who didn't introduce themselves. Sorry if I missed any of you that came out on Sunday. But the RX-8 had to be parked inside by 6:45 AM and stay till 6 PM. I opted for rest and shade when the alarm went off at 4:30 AM.
And at least two other RX-8 owners picked up some club information. My RX-8 was drawing a lot of attention by locals and the RevItUp staff. Only the Blue and Red pre-production models have been traveling with the 'circus' and several thought the Black looked so much better. (Of course, 10,000 people haven't crawled through mine.) Pictures of my RX-8 will now be in hundreds of photo albums. It may be on the RevItUP site in a day or two as well. Media relations came by and took a couple pictures of us standing by the car in front of the MSCW banner.
I drove the Mazda6 course Friday and Saturday mornings. Improved my time almost a second on Saturday so I was pleased. No where near the leaders, but I didn't expect to be. I thought the entire RevItUp operation was well done and a good marketing tool for Mazda. Mazda must think so, too, because they are already planning RevItUp 2004. Sorry, it won't be RX-8s for the competition. But I would think they would add the RX-8 to the test drive center lineup.
