CT weekly meets

Brakes are shot!
Yes, I am still alive and kick'in!
Well my brakes are about ready to give up the ghost!
I've been driving around this last week with the parking brake light flashing at me at random intervals.
I just got in 4 slotted and drilled rotors with ceramic pads. Looks like I will be doing a 4 wheel brake job this weekend.
Any gotcha's I need to look out for? I've done a lot of brake jobs but no RX-8's.
Thanks,
Joe aka "The F.O.G"

Hey Joe,
The rear brakes need to be turned back. You need a to somehow turn twist the cylinder back into the caliper. I learned it the hard way and had to borrow a tool from my friend. It looks like a cube but has little pegs sticking out of it. Idk how much it is but I'm sure you can find it at any auto parts store. Thats all I can think of as far as brakes go. Good Luck!
Hey if anyone is down for anything tonight let me know. Either the casino or whatever else is goin on. Drew I won't be able to go tomorrow to AutoX I have a lot of work to do.

Hey Guys, the rotary factory meet in queens was awesome, definitely some of the best rotary powered machines I've ever seen were there, including an rx-2, rx-3, a couple of roatry powered pickups, a three rotor rx-7, and a spirit-R complete replica. Anyway, is anyone down to meet this week. It's been way too long since anything has happened in CT, i think its time we get the ball rolling. Also, the Fairfield County Sports Car Club is running AutoX down in stratford. We should try to get a few 8's to go, if you've never done it before, its some of the best fun you can have. to register or get info go to www.fcscc.com. Anyway, whose down for a meet or even better, a cruise sometime soon?

It depends on where you go. Most big corporate places will use sniffers which means with a midpipe you'll definitely fail. If you can find an older, smaller shop they will hook up to your OBDII to see if your throwing any codes and then look underneath for a cat, since the DB is a dual rez you'd be fine in this situation. I passed mine in Danbury at a place called humphry brothers and I have an agency power dual rez. I would just call up and ask how they do testing.

Yea me too, but like I said, small shops that have been around for a while don't really care. If anyone wants to have a little fun this weekend the Fairfield County Sports Car Ingb is running autocross down in stratford on Sunday, I'll be going and it would be nice to see a couple other 8's compete too, its a blast and our cars are a great setup for this type of event. Anyone interested?

You won't need emissions for 4 years.... as long as your sig is correct and you have a 2010. My 2006 is just up for emissions this year. First time ever. My BF works at a shop, I can double check but I'm 99% sure they're all OBDII checkers now. Everything to do with emissions is controlled by the state. It's $20 wherever you go, no matter what. It's very regulated.

Once your car is 4 years old you start getting emissions every 2 years. I'm planning on getting the BHR midpipe and I'll be able to have it on the car for 2 years before I have to worry about taking it off to get emissions tested.

That midpipe doesn't have cats so it would throw a CEL. I could use an AP to get rid of the CEL but I'd rather just swap it out.
What I currently have, the RP supercat, is a high flow cat so it doesn't throw a CEL. No idea if I would pass a sniffer test but I know that the place where I'm getting it emissions tested will be using OBDII.

I just took my AP midpipe off and put the stock one back on. Then I took the stock off after my test and replaced it with my AP midpipe. They just plug it into the OBDII.
I have my AP exhaust just sitting around in my garage. I'm looking to sell it if you are interested.

I passed with the AP midpipe cause they basically just looked for resonators, since the racing beat has you should be fine as long as you don't throw any codes. even if you dont pass the first time you can retest for free within like 60 days or something, so worst case scenario you have to throw the stock cat back on for a retest.

Been lurking around here for some time now and it seems many of the Central Ct meets fall through. I'm looking into getting an exhaust soon and would like to hear a few examples! Am particularly interested in the following: greddy sp2, borla, racing beat cat backs but am open to all.
So.. when's the next Ct meet?!
