so i just got a call and the car won't be done until around 7pm today and by then i doubt there will be much light. since this is his first RX8 he wanted to take a lot of time and get some measurements so the other ones will be done faster. i'll check it out tomorrow and get some pics up at that point unless i can by some miracle get some decent ones this evening.

just got it back and it looks good - went with the 35% on the sides and 20% on the back windshield. i've never had tint done before but he seemed to take pride in taking his time to make sure it looks right. the drying process will take a few days and then he wants me to go back in to smooth out any moisture that hadn't gone away on it's own. since i'll be traveling for business during the week i won't be able to go in for the follow-up until friday.
price was $225 all said and done since that was discounted for my car and my wifes (regular price $245). once he gets the calls to confirm appointments and sees that people actually show up he said he'd talk about doing a further group discount. he has been told by too many people that they had a group only to have no one else show up so if we show we are serious you guys can benefit and get a better discount. he also said that he doesn't take checks because he has had too many bounce so don't worry about deposits.
i'll post pictures tomorrow and try to get some detailed shots up as long as the weather holds up and allows me to take any pictures. i believe he's closed tomorrow anyway so if everything looks good tomorrow you guys can start calling monday to set up appointments. the next two saturdays are wide open at this point - first come first serve and he'll only take two or three cars each saturday. his name is greg brady (yes, i said greg brady) and the phone number there is (203)877.8468.
can't wait to see this in the daylight and get some pictures taken for everyone.

lots of pics. i wanted to get some detailed shots in there so you could see how close he came on the back rear windows since they have the flip out functionality. it was as close as i think anyone could get and the angles i took the pictures i wanted to show the most detailed but once you are inside you don't even really notice it.
also, a disclaimer on the drying process. the below comes from tint-king.com and is good info for any tint expectations:

Dear customer:
Here at Tint King we are striving to provide you with quality products and hassle-free service. Before you come, please explore our site and educate yourself as to what kind of films are out there. We have been in the business for over 23 years and have found several films that we can trust, all at different price levels.
When you have decided that you want film installed on your vehicle, call us and we will be able to put you into the schedule (usually same day service is available).
If Possible, prior to bringing the car to us, give it a quick rinse off to reduce the amount of possible contamination. When you arrive you will be able to talk with one of the Tint King team members and finally decide on the film that is best for you.
We hope that you will feel free to ask any questions…the film installed on your car has a Lifetime Warranty against cracking, peeling, and bubbling. Some of the higher quality, Color-Stable films we will suggest are lifetime warranted against color change also.
After-care:
After the film has been installed you will begin to see the results of the drying process. These symptoms include-
• Hazing throughout the installation. This is the first stage of the drying process. It is normal and will disappear as long as it is left alone.
• Water bubbles throughout your installation (these will dry in 1-3 weeks and are totally normal). During the summer the drying process is shortened by the heat of the sun and you may never notice the effects.
•Make sure that you keep those windows up for at least 24 hours after leaving so as not to disturb the drying process!
Window film is rather low maintenance. Each film has a scratch resistant coating to help prevent damage from accidental bumping of the film, children and pets. In order to keep this coating strong try and stay away from harsher cleaners such as ammonia based cleaners and try moist paper towels or cleaners that say “Safe for Tinted Glass”.
With the hope that this has been helpful, we leave you to explore and decide.
Thanks,
Brian Timm

sorry, i have a really narrow driveway and wanted to get pics up this morning. i will try to get better ones of the overall look later today if possible but knew a few of you would be wanting to see pictures of details. most of the interior shots were to show you the back rear and how close it came as well as how dark the tint looks from the inside looking out. as a reminder i have 35% on all sides and 20% on the rear windshield.

let me know how it works out for you guys. i am thinking that if he does it right he can line up three cars and do them all like an assembly line. once it's all done and assuming there is daylight we should get a picture together.

Sounds like a pretty good idea...since moving to CT last June, I've probably only seen a totoal of maybe 5 rx8's. It'd be cool to have a few of them together for some pics. I called the place this morning and left a message to get my car in on Saturday...I haven't gotten a call from them yet though

Hey Shinka, if they call me back, do you want me to book you a spot as well for this Saturday? I think they may be closed today though becuase every time I call I get their answering machine...if you get through to them, can you secure a spot for me?

So if that time is good for you let me know. Greg said it could take a few hours per car and it may not be a good idea to plan on waiting.
Also pm me your number if you don't mind and I'll leave it with Greg.
Edit: (or call Greg and leave it on his machine again.)

Update: OK, j67345 you have been added to the list of cars to be done. Greg said we could bring in both cars at 12:15 and we should plan on 2 hours per car.
If we get a third I'll have to call him back to see what he wants to do (I guess he'll take it but a few hours after the first 2).

Also, I'd plan on paying at least $235 but as CTrx8 said he may come down depending on how many people show up.

That's awesome! I'm in for sure. I figure I'll have my wife follow me out there so that I don’t have to wait…plus I'm doing a bunch of work on my back yard, so losing the whole day Saturday might be rough. I'll be there for 12:15 though. Thanks for setign it up! I'll bring my camera when I come to pick the car up if you want, and I can take some pics for sure! (Josh)
I'll shoot you a PM with my number, too
