Hickory house is ok, however I have a tude with them and the smoked ribs which are really boiled and then grilled....Blech.

City BBQ is a good one or route 62 BBQ rocks also.

I would be in, can't commit as I am pretty much on call most weekends.

Take care,

Brian

Dude,

You HAVE to try smoked ribs. They are waaaaaaaaaaaay more tasty. Trust me and go get a 1/2 rack at City BBQ or Route 62 BBQ or Smackies. Yo wont' EVER go back.

On this Sunday I have to pass, I forgot it is mothers day. We are taking my better half out. Weather permitting a nice drive down in Hocking county and some nice hiking.

Take care,

Brian

I agree Mothers Day is not the most convenient day. I remembered that myself this morning.

How about next Sunday? Is any one down for Sunday the 18th?

On the 18th I will be banging my head and doing heavy drinking at Rock on the Range. It's an all weekend concert...can't wait.

Take care,

Brian

Hey everyone, Prospective rx-8 owner here.

I've been keeping my eyes on various cars for awhile now and I've decided the rx-8 is the fun and unique driving experience I've been looking for.

I was wondering though, how have your 8's held up through OHs shitty weather patterns?

I'm fully prepared to give my baby the attention it deserves but I was just interested in knowing whether anyone had noticed them being more prone to difficulties in a climate like this.

Thanks and I hope to see you all on the road soon. :D

Howdy Avett. On the stock Potenzas, driving in snow was like driving on skis. A dusting of snow would mean the car would be stuck. A friend of mine actually was unable to get over a speed bump on the stock tires in less than one inch of snow. On several occasions, I was forced to drive my 1990 MIATA...no traction control or ABS...because it was more stable in the snow.

That being said, last year I switched to different tires, still summer tires mind you, and I did just fine this past winter. It really depends on the tires as to whether the car is drivable in snow. Lots of folks just pick up a set of winter wheels/tires. They can be had here on the For Sale forum for cheap...ranging anywhere from $500-$750 for the whole shebang used.

Good luck on your search...maybe we'll meet you sometime at a get-together.

Hi,

Keep in mind when replacing stock tires the dealer when looking up will replace with summer rated tires. This means that anything under 40 degrees the tire will not "soften" and grip like it should. A lot of people by a set of winter tires. Make sure to specify if you intend to use year round so they give you a better solution.

Other than that I love how it handles. I have had no issues since my purchase around 7 months ago. Well I take that back, the bifgest issues are how much money do you want to funnel into mods? It has been keeping my wallet pretty busy .

Take care,

Brian

Yeah, my buddy has a '92 miata and there's no point. The thing weighs just a little over a ton, I don't think I would ever mess around with that in winter.

Unless I can pick up a junker by this winter I'll probably just funnel some money into winter tires and try to keep driving to a minimum.

I'm seriously in the market now though so hopefully a good deal comes my way in the next month or so I can get used to it and try to catch a few meets at the end part of the autox season.

My wife has a Miata and we drive both that and my 8 all year long. Just throw a set of Blizzaks on each for the winter and we're good to go. Summer tires are worthless in the winter and all-seasons are too much of a compromise.

winter tires are a must. i bought mine in jan and thought i could get by w.o them for that season but alas got stuck in probably an inch or so. ive been running blizzak lm-22s the previous four winters and, while you have to be mindful, the car handles well in the snow and ice.

I'm pretty sure I found my 8. 2004 GT with 23k miles. I'll keep you guy's updated and then start on some mods for the next autox season.

I'm feeling pretty good about this.

We're in for Mid-Ohio.

Sit at the Esses again? Any other spots that nice?

I think the Esses are the way to go - nice and relaxed and arguably the best view of the track. Oh - and the beer cart comes around!

I'm pretty sure I have my wife talked into coming along this time. I'm pretty sure it would be her first race of any kind. Should be interesting.

Somebody put a meet together for the Mid-Ohio trip details.

I still haven't had a chance to meet you guys yet...and gals if there are any. I am not sure of all involved.

Hope to hear something soon!

With this being a holiday weekend, it might be tough for some people. How about we shoot for May 31 or June 1? Any thoughts as to where & when?

Check out the Mid-Ohio link. There's a surprise in there.

I'm working on another one, but it's a little far-fetched. We'll see...
