Hey RA, what was your fiance doing in Granville? That's my home town.

Well, my car made a big milestone this week. I finally took it out of the state for the first time. All the way over to Ann Arbor. I'd love to change my tires to summers but I don't think I can just yet. I'm driving down to Cincinatti tomorrow morning and I think the weather said something about 20s and possible snow. Oh well, at least I get another road trip.

Z - That's where she lives. Poor girl has to commute to work in Columbus everyday. Not for long though, we just bought a condo!

Nice! Did you notice the surge of HP increase? There has to be a correlation that everytime an 8 owner switches to his summer tires, it snows! Noticed this morning that there were a few flurries.

Spring is here- time to buy - FINALLY!

I posted this o nthe pruchasing thread, too. but wnated ot ask m,y Ohio peeps...

My lease is finally up - and there's a silver 05 6SP with GT package and spoiler available near me - sticker is 32,040. Dealer is offering a sale price of 29,600. I can either finance for 60 months at 1.9% for 558/month, or take the 2500 from MAC and finance for 72 months at the normal rates for and pay 528/month.

So, for 30 dollars more per month, i shave a year of payments off by turning down the rebates and going with a low interest rate. That seems like a no brainer.

But based on what I've read - going from 32,040 down to 29,600 is not really a good deal. I am terrible at haggling/negotiating - what should I do/ask for? Or is that a good price?

I also know that the 05's are drying up - and that the 06's will not be discounted as much, right?

Please help - I told the dealer I'd get back to him.

Also, thanks to all for convincing me to pass on the AT - I am learning to drive a stick so I can buy this car!

what dealer is it? thats an ok price, but id shoot for $26k. im not sure what invoice is, but id bet around there and its an 05 model so they want to get rid of it. check out edmunds.com to get the invoice and tmv (what people are paying) price for the car and start $1k below invoice. remember that dealers have holdback, so even if they sell a car at invoice they still make a percentage of the sale (usually 2-6%) so theyre still making something. plus, all factory incentives arent hurting what the dealer makes, so they can sell it at invoice and still give you any rebates

ra- i gained like 30whp with the change. or maybe i just drove it like that

Threw my 3rd cel Thursday. Leaving town tomorrow, so I had to jump on it. Called MD and they got me right in. Gave me a pos Corolla S and sent me on my way.

They called me before 10 yesterday - car is all set. Claimed the cel was the gas cap - maybe. I complained of hard starting especially after the car was warmed up. They replaced the starter, battery and leading plugs. Cleaned the trailing plugs. Installed my new console lid. All is good!

I have complained before, but in this case, they took good care of me. Good job!

The new starter/battery combo is wild! It seems like it spins twice as fast! Good stuff.

Yeah, it was me. Very shiny 8 you got there! I didn't know it was you. Were you climbing or lifting at the rec center? We'll have to have a meet one of these days

I was climbing the indoor rock wall. I've been looking for some good pickup b-ball games. Are the games at that rec center pretty decent?

Another 8 about to hit the streets!

Thanks to all of you COlumbus 8 owners - yout advice and encouragement have been awesome - and after 3 years of reaidng baout the RX-Evolve concept, then a year of waiting or the RX-*, then 3 years of a 325 BMW lease because my car died 3 months before the RX-8 came out, I am finally making the purchase of a lifetime!

I finished al lthe negotiating and haggling with a dealer outside of town and I'll be singign he papers htis week o na 05 6SP with GT package. Satellite radio and Rotary accent package for 24,950 plus t/t. With the ifnancing (500 down) I'm looking at 519 a month for 60 months.

Mostly, I wrote this post to thank all of you ,but also to give you either the chance to congratulate me - or tell me I'm making a bad purchase decision. From all I:ve read, it seems like a good deal. Now all I have ot do is learn to drive a stick! (freidn gave me a lesson yesterday - her back is stil lhurting for mthe whiplash I gave her. But I hope the 05 rx-8 shifts smoother than her 98 civic!

SO if you see a jerky silver 8 o nthe roads around westerville or Polaris - don't get too close - I'll be leanring to handle the car a little while longer. But at least I'll be driving it!!! Thanks again to all of you - what a great group of people!

congtratulations on the purchase, I hope you enjoy the 8 as much as the rest of us. Remember to follow the break in guidelines and keep the RPMs down for the first 800 miles.

Around 7:30pm tonight on Morse rd and Cherry Bottom, coming the opposite direction of where I was going, I saw what I'm pretty sure was an RX-8, however it was decked out! (I know, this post is useless without pics) It may have had a Veilside or Ings body kit, and I thought I heard a BOV. Have you guys seen this car around??? Is he a member here?
