BBQ Meet in Lowell, MA on Sat May 14th

Hi folks,

I'm a moderator on www.is300.net
and i'm trying to make this seem as non-trolling as possible. If i'm breaking any forum rules, I apologize in advance. Please let me know and I'll correct whatever it is.

Ventura's Autobody in Lowell, MA is sponsoring a BBQ for is300.net members (and others) as he's worked on a bunch of our cars.

The owner has a silver RX8 and wants to get involved with the RX8 community but he is a little uh...how do I say not too internet saavy and I'm trying to get the ball rolling for him. He's had an RX7 and just recently bought an rx8.

There will be a BBQ and hangout for members check out other's rides and enjoy each other's company.

What I know is coming so far: There are quite a few turbo'd IS300's and modified ones in the boston area (mine included) that will be showing up. I like to think we're a fairly tight knit community and so a bunch of us will be showing up. I'd like to take a look at some rotaries.

Ventura's is offering discounted body work/paint work for people who show up and express interest in having some work done.

The info:
Date: Saturday May 14th
Time: 11AM-3PM or whenever people feel like leaving
Where: Ventura Autobody (They have a fairly large parking lot)
Address: 1599 Middlesex Street
Lowell, MA 01851

Feel free to ask any questions you want.
Hope to see you guys there.

Roll call:

Intresting, I live not just over the line in NH... would be intrested in meeting another 8 owner and some other cool car enthusiasts... there are a number of us in the area, and we like to get together occasionaly, lets see if anyone else is around that weekend and maybe we can surprise your friend with a few other 8's to keep his company.

Always nice to learn about a good body shop as well. Currently I don't need any work done... just got a new rear bumper after getting rear ended this winter... but things happen!

Keep us informed as to the details.

Cool. Yeah, NH is just a hop away.
I've used 4 body shops in MA and so far this one has been leaps and bounds better than the others. The other 3 were really sketchy...insurance scamming and weird stuff going on all the time.

You're welcome to come even if the RX8 guys don't take interest.
There will be plenty of IS300 people and the owner of the shop would really like to get involved in the fairlady crowd as well as the rx8.

Yeah, I think that we might be able to get the "regular crew" to check it out.

by the way, that's a trippy photo of your car. has it been edited at all? the color of your car, mailbox, trash cans, and sky stand out so much compared to the grey/brown dullness of the rest of the picture...

I added a little red to the sky.
Other than that, it's pretty much untouched.

The mailbox I painted to match my car.
When my car was silver, I painted the mailbox to match. When I had the car painted blue, I had to redo the mailbox.

The color of my car...well if you guys come to the meet, you'll be really surprised.
It's not some house of kolor and it doesn't have any candy in it, nor metallic flake. But you'll be surprised nonetheless.

If you're coming from the south

You'd take 95 north to Rt 3 North
It's off of exit 32 about 2 miles.

I'm really not from that area, but I think it's closer to you than Umass Lowell.
It's closer to Chelmsford.

Bad news for me... My sister is graduating Saturday. She just completed her masters in Education... so I'm afraid I'm going to be in Plymouth. I hope the BBQ goes well. Let me know the next time you are all together and hopefully I can make that!

Bad news guys, I'll be doing some whitewater rafting with my girlfriend this weekend up in Maine, that is, if I make it out of the office at all. Keep me posted, and I hope your sister chose to go to Brown!

Thanks Tigger. You seem like an awesome person.

Unfortunately only 1 RX8 showed up.
Some other cars, but since I really don't have any influence on some of the car forums, the turnout wasn't so great with other types of cars. Oh well.

After the meet we ended up going to Good Times and Somerville and raced go karts for a while, had dinner and just chilled til about 9:30 or 10:00
Was good fun and met a lot of cool people.

Some pics:
