It looks fine w/o the rear (lots of people don't get the diffuser) but side skirts are a must. You could go another route than MS for the side skirts tho. There are plenty of skirts out there that are similar to the MS ones and there really just isn't much you can do different then what Mazda did.

In other words either stick to stock all round or get the MS front and pick up some aftermarket side skirts. I think Shine Auto has the Feed sideskirts in stock and while their recent group buys using imported parts has been pretty weak they're at least reputable on fittings.

If you scroll they have pics. The sides are ~500 shipped.

But hey if this prevents you from getting your seat lowered then skip the bling.

Lots of rain... Hard rain. Good to learn on though.

Here's my buddy's car and trailer along with mine. He raced in the "Thunder" race and placed third in his class/group.

This was the NASA HPDE 1 @ Mid-Ohio. Tons of fun. That track is amazing. And the cars there this weekend were some of the best tuned cars in the US (NASA has their nationals at the end of the year @ MidOhio so lots of teams make it a point to get down for this weekend).

My 8 was probably one of the slowest cars out there both because I was driving it slow and because it had well worn street tires & HPS brakes on it.

DeViLbOi 07-14-2008 10:44 AM

Ive seen that kind of rain before. :P Glad you had fun Ryan. Hopefully we have as much fun in October.

As for my bodykit issue...what do you think of a MS front with the front splash guards and rear aero flares?

Don't you already have the appearance kit?

The rear aero flares are pretty key to completing the look from the front bumper, through the sides, to the back if you're not getting the under spoiler. If I were you I'd post in the appearance forum for anyone who has pics of the MS front with the aero kit sides/rear. See if it's enough.

Oh and fwiw I don't think the front splash guards would help at all with the look.

DeViLbOi 07-14-2008 11:12 AM

I did not have the appearance kit. I did find a couple threads in the Appearance forum on it and they all said the same thing...that the MS front would look really bad without the side skirts. The rear aero flares help with the back...but I don't think that it would help with the front. That is why I was thinking the splash guards.

FYI but I did not kill myself or my car this weekend so I am now officially registered for megz autox on Saturday.

http://axtime.com/preregister.php?Cl...ts&EventID=275

Couldn't let Mark win BS by default... ;)

Oh and I'm assuming my exhaust is fine for BS since it weighs more than stock and gives me almost zilch in terms of HP. I think sways are illegal, right? Should be getting my progress sways this week and (hopefully) my intake so I will probably install on Sunday.

Stock – This category includes mass-produced, common vehicles that may be “daily drivers,” cars used for normal, everyday driving. Stock Category cars compete in their “factory” configuration with a minimal number of allowances (these are not requirements) such as:

- Removal of spare tire and tools
- Front anti-roll bar(s)
- Suspension / wheel alignment using factory-approved adjustments
- High-performance DOT-approved tires (including R-compounds)
- Shock absorbers or struts (2 external adjustments maximum)
- Competition-type seat belts (no shoulder belts in open cars)
- Brake linings (pads / shoes)
- Air filter element (the “throw-away” part)
- “Cat”-back exhaust systems
- Wheels – standard diameter, width and offset (within ¼”)
- Roll bar / cage
- Gauges, indicator lights, etc.

So far it's just Ryan and I for Saturday. Anyone else coming?

megz 07-15-2008 07:57 AM

Awesome! Thanks Ryan for registering :]

No other rx8 guys wanna come out? I thought Mark had a pretty good bet going as far as the prizes...

It's not that I don't want to be there, I just have to work.

AutoX at Lakeland this past Sunday was great! There was 20 cars there, if that, and we got plenty on runs. Instead of doing one run then going back to the paddock, Bill looped the track around to make it a two lap track. I also did a lot better thanks to my custom alignment settings and tire pressure adjustments. :)

I'll be at Nelson Ledges this Friday for a Funday if anyone is interested.

I was planning on coming out, but didn't register because I didn't plan on running.
It looks like its going to thunderstorm Saturday (which seems to happen when I go out to Eastlake).
So for me... weather depending!

But I will be at Rush Hour on Friday and will probably be at Nelson's to watch Tony and my friend with his LS1 Trans Am.

docgatorx8er 07-15-2008 10:07 PM

can we review the directions to rush hour for friday?

Sorry Bud, I worked my butt off and was exhausted. I woke up Sunday, made a pot of coffee, had a couple cups. Looked at the rain and went back to bed. And that's AFTER a couple cups of coffee! Guess I just needed the rest. Wish I 'd have known you were gonna be there. That might have put me over the edge to make it!

Glad to hear the adjustments are working out!

If traveling from the north (which I believe most will), take I480 east and get off at RT91 exit.
Turn left and go under the I480 bridge.
To your left (behind Taco Bell) you'll see a plaza. Rush Hour is on the left wing of the plaza towards the rear.

Most of you who are South already know RT91 in Twinsburg, so I shouldn't have to explain it. :)

I attached a map... not the prettiest, but the best I can do from work.

docgatorx8er 07-15-2008 10:33 PM

Is that over by Gander Mountain???

Jon316G 07-15-2008 10:33 PM

YUP... on the other side of 91

Jon316G 07-15-2008 10:34 PM

For those who want to Google Map or GPS, the address is:

Wait. When did we start inviting automatics to meets? vb ;)

I have an appt. with my dentist at 5. Probably swing by after that. Hate how there's no quick and easy we to get from Brecksville to that part of Twinsburg. Guess not every meet can happen in my neck of the woods.

Hmmm.... Car's dirty and still has outlines of 008 on the sides. I may have to hit the autowash. Been a while since I did that.

DeViLbOi 07-17-2008 02:23 PM

I'll be there after workwhich should put me there between 7:30 and 8:00.

Wouldn't you just take 82 all the way to 91?

Yes. And that's certainly easy. However it is lacking in the quick department.

I really hate driving through Macedonia.
