Akron/Cleveland 8 Owners.

Seems like alot of the Columbus guys get together, if nothing else, on these forums. I KNOW there are 8 owners in Cleveland and Akron because I have seen 'em. So, where are you guys on the forums? I live in Wadsworth, which is Akronish. I'm wanting to do some things with the 8 this summer and want to find other owners near-by.

devoid 04-18-2005 02:26 PM

It's your lucky day! I'm in Cleveland! If you want to know what mine is/looks like, check my sig! (Trust me, you'll agree...its your lucky day! ;) )

Wurmfist 04-18-2005 08:07 PM

I see a black RX-8 running on I-90 sometimes around the Chester street exit. I never take my 8 to Cleveland, I'm always there in the work mini-van. Although I always envy those that are in there 8's when I'm not. I went to your website. You got quite the nice setup. Mine's mostly stock. Although I did add some Kenwood subs and a Kenwood Excelon amp. It's nothing really heavy, but it adds a little kick to it. I also got the Racing Beat exhaust and the a/c and oil coller covers. I'm happiest the most about the RB exhaust. It was just what I was looking for.

devoid 04-25-2005 01:00 PM

Well...if you hear a black 8, more than you see it...or you see some wicked underbody ground effects....that's me! :D Trust me...you'll hear me! (On the positive side, I've noticed no one will tailgate me...I'd like to credit my exhaust! :D ) Oh...and especially around dead-man's curve, I love to drop the gears and rev the engine up under all the bridges....it sounds fantastic...brings a smile to the face every time!

baeckebd 04-25-2005 08:30 PM

I'm a new 8 owner in Cleveland, but I'm actually moving to Cinci in June. Any good shows up there before then?

conedodger 05-04-2005 07:46 PM

I'm a little late posting but I live in Green, south of Akron.

Wurmfist 05-05-2005 06:12 AM

Yeah I know Green. Not to far from me. I'm in Wadsworth. I keep seeing a red 8 driving around Wadsworth that isn't mine either Doylestown too. I suspect it's the same car.

Wurmfist 05-05-2005 06:13 AM

Wadsworth 8 Owner

I live in Wadsworth. I just got my 8 in February. I have a black one. I love it! It would be nice to get together sometime and admire each other's 8. They are awesome cars!

That sounds good to me. I won't really be available until after late June though. Brilliant black is awsome!

Sweet! I live near Bidingers Ice Cream. If you are ever going down college street and it's a weekend you might see it in the driveway, if I'm not off driving around in it. Sadly I don't get to drive it much during the week because of my job. We could have a minature ralley in Wadsworth now lol. I see a red 8 going around town too. Is it possible to have 3 8's in one town?? ...boggle...

jangle 05-16-2005 08:49 AM

wurmfist, i'll try and stop by sometime if i see your car there. i live on farr ave between summit and hartman.

conedodger, be sure to remind me when you're available. maybe we can all get together sometime. brilliant black is awesome! i'm now pissed though...just spent 4 hours on my 8 yesterday and it's raining in hudson today (i work in hudson).

later!

Neat, that's just up the road. Sure, if you see the 8 sitting in the drive, stop-by. It would be nice to meet a fellow 8 owner.

Maybe we can schedule a meeting at Quaker Steak and Lube in Independence some time or somplace more close as well. Car night at Wink's in Barberton is always neat place to go as well.

Gopherage 05-21-2007 04:55 PM

I just got an 8 about a month ago and i love it, haven't 'done anything to it, just enjoying it so far. I'm from Hudson but i drive down to akron alot to visit my girlfriend because it's where her apartment is. I always see a dark silver one up by the Summa health center and there is a red one with a car bra in the apartment next door. Any of those you guys?

Jon316G 05-21-2007 05:05 PM

I live in Northern Akron (between Howe Ave and Tallmadge).
I've installed an Agency exhaust with a race pipe (sure does increase the sound), an AEM intake, and an Agency under driven pulley. I drive up RT8 to Twinsburg for work. Hope to see you guys around.

Rootski 05-21-2007 06:07 PM

Norwalk, one hour west of Cleveland.

Dietzel316 05-22-2007 06:32 PM

whats up everyone. I live in Columbus right now, but I'm originally from Cleveland. My parents and most of my friends still live up there, so I try to make it north once every couple months. I'm down for a Cleveland meet. It's always cool talking with other owners.

JeffGordon 05-22-2007 10:59 PM

Hey everyone! I'm in Brecksville and so far have the only Lightning Yellow I've seen in the area, so if you see a LY it's probably me.

Gopherage 05-23-2007 11:21 PM

Seems like there are a bunch of us and we should be able to get some get together going sometime. Hey Jon who works in twinsburg is your car black without a spoiler? Because i saw one up there not to long ago. Our cars seem to be rare enough that if you see one in an area someone says they frequent that there is pretty good chance its them.

Jon316G 05-23-2007 11:53 PM

Gopherage:
I actually drive a red RX8 without a spoiler. Just look for the 8 shooting flames from the exhaust :FIREdevil

ALPHAQ 05-24-2007 03:08 PM

I live in the Willoughby area and work out in Cleveland Hts. There are a couple 8's running around my area. We need to get something all figured out, would be good times!!

Gopherage 05-24-2007 05:20 PM

haha i'll keep my eyes open for the flames, i drive a red rx8 also but mine does have a spoiler and no flames haha.

Huhwha 05-24-2007 10:10 PM

Hey guys, check out this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/mw-rx-8-forum-31/2007-grand-am-races-mid-ohio-june-22-24-a-117523/

We Columbus folks are plannig to go to Mid-Ohio for the Grand Am race. It's just as close for you. Would be great to get more people together. Just reply to that thread if you are interested and we'll get some details together.

Danc 05-25-2007 06:40 AM

Canton Ohio. I have my WWP 8 and I love the thing.

Only problem down here is I see a fellow 8 drive once every.... week? Maybe less?

I'm lonely. Wave if you see me =)

tony_673 05-25-2007 07:43 PM

Where the freak have all of you people been over the past year I've been posting to find people in the Cleveland/Akron area?? No one ever replies! :icon_no2:

Anyways, I'm up in Euclid, and I'm totally up for hanging out. Let me know!!

Gopherage 05-27-2007 12:41 AM

I just got my car a little over a month ago so i have an excuse :)

Machiavelli 05-30-2007 08:30 PM

Hello all. I live in Strongsville and work in downtown Cleveland. I've had my Phantom Blue 8 for about three weeks.

Wurmfist, I've also seen that Black RX-8 on Chester. It parks in my wife's garage in the Huntington Building.

tony_673 05-31-2007 09:52 PM

Do you guys think we can organize a meet-up sometime within the next couple weeks?

RA-Eight 05-31-2007 11:12 PM

Akron/Cleveland guys-

Columbus guys are getting together for the Grand Am races at Mid-Ohio on June 24th, if any of you are interested. Chance to see Speedsource's #69 RX-8.

More details here:
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=117523

Rootski 05-31-2007 11:55 PM

That'd be great, except I'm leaving for Colorado again on the 23rd. Any chance of a meet before then?

I'm also taking a performance driving class at Mid-Ohio on June 10th. Anyone want to join me?

Gopherage 05-31-2007 11:57 PM

That sounds cool Rootski what exactly does it involve, how much does it cost, and is it a one day thing?

Rootski 06-01-2007 12:12 AM

It's a one day thing, 9:30am-4pm, and it costs about $600 w/your own car. Not sure what exactly the curriculum is, I can only speculate on that.

tony_673 06-01-2007 12:21 AM

What would be a good location for everyone to meet at? ($600 is too much for my broke arse!)

Geezer 06-12-2007 11:11 AM

Losing my exclusivity up here

It used to be that I was the ONLY YELLOOOH 8 out about Cleveland (North Olmsted) way. Now there's another I regularly see on I-480 as well as another at Bass Mazda on 254 & I-90. Being a recent BW grad (eventhough I'm reaching that half-century mark) perhaps I'll affix a couple of bee-wings to the beast to regain my perceived exclusivity.

By the way does onyone know of a good dent pulling shop? I've got a couple on the rear passenger wheel well that I'd like pulled out.

Thanks!

Bob

tony_673 06-13-2007 09:33 AM

I'm an east-sider myself, so I'm not sure of any good body guys out your way. Damn you, you daily drivers! :) (jk!)

As far as exclusivity, there's a few other Ti Grey's in my area, but nothing with things done to them. I think they're daily driver's also. (Mine is not) I suspect that the lower the resale value drops, the more I'll see around. I guess I should have bought a Lambo. :icon_no2:

What model year is the Yellow RX at Bass? I just bought mine there and they had a Galaxy Grey GT and Phantom Blue AT left.

My son had some dents pulled out of the door of his Dodge truck at Taddies Autobody in North Royalton. They did a very nice job and the price was pretty reasonable. Also, a buddy just had some body work done on his Saab Aero at Westlake Autobody and Frame on Lear Nagle Road, and he was very happy with the work they did. Those might be a wee bit out of your way, though.

harocied 06-14-2007 05:16 PM

Hey everyone, I just joined, I've had an 8 for 4 months now... I'm from Kent. Definitely down for a get together

Machiavelli 07-05-2007 09:50 AM

Sacrilege!

I spotted a Galaxy Gray RX8 in South Euclid delivering pizzas with a big "Hungry Howie's" sign on it.

I know we value the versatility of these cars, but c'mon! :)

Gopherage 07-05-2007 10:06 AM

Probably how he pays for it. If thats what it took to get an Rx8 i'd do it too, at least i'd have one and you can always take the sign off at night...i hope?

Horrible gas mileage for a delivery car.

Is your screen name for the author, or the rapper?

I was hoping it was for the author...yeah, didn't 2pac take that as one of his nicknames/pen names for a while? I was never into rap but that sounds right.

A quick google (because I know about as much about rap as I do Japanese kelp production) revealed that Tupac/2Pac went through a stage where he called himself "Makaveli". Close enough I guess. :)

Yeah, didn't bother to google it, just came to mind as when I was once reading The Prince a friend laughed at me and asked if "2pac had written a book". I didn't answer back.

Definitely a big fan of The Prince. One of the better political science reads, at least from my exposure to that line of theory.

Recommend a Good Cleveland Area Dealer for Routine Service?

I took my car into Bass Mazda (Ford) for it's first oil change, and ended up fleeing. I had tried to schedule an appointment, but they told me to just bring it in. When I got there I found they don't do oil changes at the Mazda service facility. Instead have a "quickchange" facility at the Ford dealer where the oil changes are done pretty cheaply -$19.95 - on a first come, first served basis. When I saw the various cars (all Fords, mostly old beaters, and not a Mazda in the bunch) lined up for their oil changes and the sign proudly proclaiming that they used Motorcraft oil, I became concerned that they might not utilize the proper grade of oil, and asked the tech behind the counter about what kind of oil they used for RX8 changes. The look of confusion and hesitation I got led me to beat a hasty retreat.

I may just be being a spaz, but I love this car and plan on keeping it a long time. It may be that they were perfectly knowledgeable and just were taken aback by my question. I'm not worried about Motorcraft oil per se, I just don't want to take a chance on having 10W40 dropped into my car by what appears to be a glorified quicky-lube. I know I can do something as simple as an oil change myself, but would still like to hook up with a service department that inspires confidence.

Can someone recommend a Cleveland area dealer with a service department that they have confidence in? West side would be best, but I don't mind going east if need be. Thanks!

:uhh: Soooo.......why don't you change the oil yourself? It's not too difficult.

I don't let anyone tocuh my baby unless I absolutely can't do it myself. (Or it's a warranty issue)

Just keep your receipts for the oil and filters that you pruchased and keep records of what mileage it was done at. :)

Machiavelli 08-06-2007 10:23 AM

As I mentioned, I know that changing it myself is an option. But I also know that there will be times when I won't want to - I'm thinking in particular of when winter rolls around. There will also be other maintenance issues in the future when I will not want to DIY it.
