Akron/Cleveland 8 Owners.
This is a good indication that the pedal snapped.

This shows the fracture. With the pedal installed in the car, that area known to fractures is on the upper-left side.

Yup... worst case.

As you may or may not be able to see from the pictures. The clutch assembly is attached to a plate that is mounted to the firewall by 3 spot welds. These welds have been known to break. So the generally accepted fix is to weld the entire assembly to that plate giving it more strength.
I'll pull the clutch out of the donor and try to get it welded before then. Let me know for sure what your plans are.
Anyone interested in my Enkeis? I keep forgetting to mention that now that the car has sold I'm willing to let them go for $1100. Those, my coolant hoses, and my Cobalt brake pads are the only things left.
$1100 for the wheels and tires and that includes the TPMS already installed. The wheels also come with a full set of 20 lugs and 4 locking lugs (i didn't use the locks on track days), 4 centercaps, and a wheel hub adapter.
18x9.5 +45 Silver Enkei RP-F1s
275/35/18 Cooper 2XS Street Tires (~7500 miles)
It's the 'standard' RX8 configuration. The coopers make pretty good wet tires for HPDEs and great all-round Summer driving tires.

If anyone needs it I can get better quality pics this weekend but most everyone's seen these and knows there's no road rash and that they've been babied (Zaino FTW!
).

Those are really nice Ryan. . . I'm surprised you haven't found a buyer for these yet... Are you willing to ship them? I'm sure on the greater forum they would go fast.

but steve the car will be back in cleveland by either thursday or friday, its really up to you whenever you get the clutch done. i can for sure be back this weekend if you can be done with it by then but if not then it we can do it another time. although if we dont do it this weekend my dad wants to drop the car off at the dealership to see if its covered under warranty, although im tryin to talk him out of it cuz past experience seems to show theres only problems when goin there.
Since that's gone I don't mind letting them go now. Shipping big things blows so I'm gonna see around here and then in the NE FS section. I figure they'll sell easier in March/April anyway and unless my Condo sells I don't have any real need for more cash until then.
hhah yeah without the car i have to take a bus to my off campus class (-.-)

I can get it off tomorrow and have it ready for this weekend. The issue might be having someone more skilled than me weld it.
I can help install it also if you'll be home.
EDIT: Oh yeah, report your broken clutch through the links in this thread:

Hmm. . . my first question would be, what warranty? Its not covered under the powertrain, so unless there is something else I'm not aware of...

i decided to drive it to my off campus class and it was perfectly fine, i checked for any visible cracks and there was none, and my clutch pedal looks different then the one jon posted further up. my clutch pedal is no where near as close to the brake pedal as it is in that picture.
jon, you might know what i mean when i describe what its like, cuz when you drove my car you mentioned my clutch didnt catch as soon as yours, like you had to let out on it a lot more for it to engage. but now it feels like your clutch sorta, it engages real early now.

Remember... I have an aftermarket clutch so my engagement point is different, but I do recall yours was different than I recall from stock.
But its good you didn't see any cracks around the spot-weld, I would still get it welded anyway.

We might need to spend some time checking adjustments like the clutch pedal stroke and pedal play to verify that its where it should be.

it was montrose mazda, and they thought my exhaust and intake caused it. there was no fight at all once we went to bedford, they've been awesome so far, but anytime ive been to montrose on brookpark its been nothin but problems.
Anytime I have ever been to Montrose I have never had a problem. And I've had all kinds of warranty work done there, from them tearing apart my entire powertrain to replace a leaking main seal to a water filled tail light.
It's odd that you had problems there.
I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I've never run into any problems at any of my dealerships that I have taken my cars to for warranty repair.
