Smile Christmas Presents

All:

Thanks to all of you for being so welcoming when I had my RX8. This is a great group of folks! I have to say, I am no longer an owner, though. I traded in my RX8 2 days before Christmas for something with a LOT more torque for the race track.

I do, however, have some parts in my garage if anyone would like them. Please drop me a note and we can work it out if they are of interest to you.
  1. 4 Used Rotors. Good shape.
  2. Stock pads for all of them I believe.
  3. Complete stock suspension....dampers, springs.
Just drop me a note if interested. doug.geisler@gmail.com
Merry Christmas to all.

Doug

Sorry won't be able to make it Sunday, my daughter is coming back from France :-)

Also, I got under the car and banged around on the CAT a bit trying to get the bolts undone to gut it. I didn't get too far and put the ONE bold I got off back on to run errands. But, after that it seemed to run a little better then I got 0031 CEL code. So I think the CAT is shot for sure and the O2 most likely too. I'm gonna try again tonight to at least get it off there and gut it and see what happens.

Devil -

I couldn't control myself! And my wife likes sports cars too. (Great excuse)

I bought a 911. I have wanted one my whole life. I got an '03 C4S with AWD that I can daily drive and still live in the snow belt. I work out of my house and don't really drive that many miles per year except back and forth to the airport and store, and on the track in the summer.

I will try to post a pic below and see if it works. Never done it here before.

Devil or Doc:

Could you use an extra set of rotors? I always took them to the track in case I cracked a rotor under heavy stress. They are nice to keep in a pinch.

I don't track my car because I don't fit in it with a helmet so Im good. Hopefully Brian (tiresmoker) will hop in here soon...he is probably the most likely to buy a set.

I just bought OpticalTDIs rotors, so I'm already a set in the bank. Thx though.

BIG THANKS to Jon for helping out with the car yesterday! Did my Gator's oil, and Red's Oil, Tranny, Radiator, and Diff fluids. Only broke a couple of things, and no fingers!

So I gutted my CAT yesterday and it runs better. Still a little rough starting acceleration at low RPMs so I'm going to get now ignition wires soon. I think I didn't get the back connection on quite right, it smells like exhaust in the car now. I am getting a 0031 CEL now but it does run better. Sorry I missed the get together Sunday.

Shouldn't be leaking into the car while driving. . . does it still smell when you're moving?

How did the fluid party go? Were you guys able to fix my coolant leak?

And those that have purchased the star specs, where did you purchase them? I need to find some on special here sometime this winter.

Esses: The stock suspension is a tough order, I've had the donor suspension on ebay a few times for a pretty reasonable price with nearly zero interest. Shame you didn't pull your other suspension before trading it in.
You'll be able to unload your stock pads and maybe rotors on the forum. I know I've got 2 extra sets of pads currently and most other use an upgraded hawk pad of some sort.

In Bronco News. . . The truck made it to Milwaukee and Back. 1k+ miles. Made it to Chicago during an ice storm and 2 accidents happened right in front of me on the Skyway (basically a huge bridge that iced all up and people wanted to drive 55mph.)
1st guy lost it about 300 yards in front of me and T boned the right concrete divider. I was in the middle lane. Guy passing me me on the right saw his lane was blocked by the car that just hit the right divider. Hit his brakes and skidded into my lane about 20ft in front of me and hit a car in the left lane in the Passenger door. Kristen freaked out. As did I, not gonna lie.

Bronco didn't start the next day, so I replaced the distributor cap and rotor. But in my haste, I didn't get the firing order correct, so I fixed that Sunday. Only to have the driver door lock freeze locked not allowing the door to close. After taking that apart it worked again. . . then spare tire lock froze (lock that holds spare tire arm to the tail gate) Unfroze the lock, then the actually Truck Started, and we drove home. . .

Is it spring yet?

Yes, Steve, we fixed your coolant leak while your car was at your place. Hope you enjoy. I've got land in Florida too.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid but it does seem to smell a little bit when I'm moving. I've only driven once since I did it. I've got a bunch of stuff to do today with the kids so I'll see if they can smell any thing.

The smell will leak into the car at times...but Steve is right...if you're moving you should be fine. I notice it most at stop lights after hard driving.

You'll smell it at start up and then a bit when stopped, but again, when you're moving, it shouldn't be smelling.

I got mine from Tire Rack. Was $170ish per.

Sounds like you had a hairy trip. Glad you avoided the fender-benders.

Yeah, the trip was a bit unnerving. Tire Rack seems to be the best bet for star specs. . . I just wonder how many sets of tires I'll buy from them in a 12 month span. . .

Hows the Z doing in snow? Is it being driven?

The Z is being driven almost daily. It's holding up real well, and I'm pretty confident with it. The Blizzaks grip like monsters and my only hesitation would be in snow sufficiently deep that I'd have to worry about it plowing - it sits pretty low.

Deep snow + wide tires + low ground clearance = bad day.
