Hello all. I live in Strongsville and work in downtown Cleveland. I've had my Phantom Blue 8 for about three weeks.

Wurmfist, I've also seen that Black RX-8 on Chester. It parks in my wife's garage in the Huntington Building.

Akron/Cleveland guys-

Columbus guys are getting together for the Grand Am races at Mid-Ohio on June 24th, if any of you are interested. Chance to see Speedsource's #69 RX-8.

That'd be great, except I'm leaving for Colorado again on the 23rd. Any chance of a meet before then?

I'm also taking a performance driving class at Mid-Ohio on June 10th. Anyone want to join me?

That sounds cool Rootski what exactly does it involve, how much does it cost, and is it a one day thing?

It's a one day thing, 9:30am-4pm, and it costs about $600 w/your own car. Not sure what exactly the curriculum is, I can only speculate on that.

Losing my exclusivity up here

It used to be that I was the ONLY YELLOOOH 8 out about Cleveland (North Olmsted) way. Now there's another I regularly see on I-480 as well as another at Bass Mazda on 254 & I-90. Being a recent BW grad (eventhough I'm reaching that half-century mark) perhaps I'll affix a couple of bee-wings to the beast to regain my perceived exclusivity.

By the way does onyone know of a good dent pulling shop? I've got a couple on the rear passenger wheel well that I'd like pulled out.

Thanks!

Bob

I'm an east-sider myself, so I'm not sure of any good body guys out your way. Damn you, you daily drivers! (jk!)

As far as exclusivity, there's a few other Ti Grey's in my area, but nothing with things done to them. I think they're daily driver's also. (Mine is not) I suspect that the lower the resale value drops, the more I'll see around. I guess I should have bought a Lambo.

What model year is the Yellow RX at Bass? I just bought mine there and they had a Galaxy Grey GT and Phantom Blue AT left.

My son had some dents pulled out of the door of his Dodge truck at Taddies Autobody in North Royalton. They did a very nice job and the price was pretty reasonable. Also, a buddy just had some body work done on his Saab Aero at Westlake Autobody and Frame on Lear Nagle Road, and he was very happy with the work they did. Those might be a wee bit out of your way, though.

Sacrilege!

I spotted a Galaxy Gray RX8 in South Euclid delivering pizzas with a big "Hungry Howie's" sign on it.

I know we value the versatility of these cars, but c'mon!

Horrible gas mileage for a delivery car.

Is your screen name for the author, or the rapper?

A quick google (because I know about as much about rap as I do Japanese kelp production) revealed that Tupac/2Pac went through a stage where he called himself "Makaveli". Close enough I guess.

Yeah, didn't bother to google it, just came to mind as when I was once reading The Prince a friend laughed at me and asked if "2pac had written a book". I didn't answer back.

Definitely a big fan of The Prince. One of the better political science reads, at least from my exposure to that line of theory.

Recommend a Good Cleveland Area Dealer for Routine Service?

I took my car into Bass Mazda (Ford) for it's first oil change, and ended up fleeing. I had tried to schedule an appointment, but they told me to just bring it in. When I got there I found they don't do oil changes at the Mazda service facility. Instead have a "quickchange" facility at the Ford dealer where the oil changes are done pretty cheaply -$19.95 - on a first come, first served basis. When I saw the various cars (all Fords, mostly old beaters, and not a Mazda in the bunch) lined up for their oil changes and the sign proudly proclaiming that they used Motorcraft oil, I became concerned that they might not utilize the proper grade of oil, and asked the tech behind the counter about what kind of oil they used for RX8 changes. The look of confusion and hesitation I got led me to beat a hasty retreat.

I may just be being a spaz, but I love this car and plan on keeping it a long time. It may be that they were perfectly knowledgeable and just were taken aback by my question. I'm not worried about Motorcraft oil per se, I just don't want to take a chance on having 10W40 dropped into my car by what appears to be a glorified quicky-lube. I know I can do something as simple as an oil change myself, but would still like to hook up with a service department that inspires confidence.

Can someone recommend a Cleveland area dealer with a service department that they have confidence in? West side would be best, but I don't mind going east if need be. Thanks!

Soooo.......why don't you change the oil yourself? It's not too difficult.

I don't let anyone tocuh my baby unless I absolutely can't do it myself. (Or it's a warranty issue)

Just keep your receipts for the oil and filters that you pruchased and keep records of what mileage it was done at.

As I mentioned, I know that changing it myself is an option. But I also know that there will be times when I won't want to - I'm thinking in particular of when winter rolls around. There will also be other maintenance issues in the future when I will not want to DIY it.
