You're right... I might have to rethink that statement.

Do you still have the stock airbox, fresh air duct (pipe that runs behind the bumper), and the VFAD assembly? I'm always willing to give a hand.

Hey docgatorx8er... while looking at your attachments I noticed something that doesn't look right!
Where the two red arrows are pointing, are they the same hose? If so, that is not where it should go

The top-most air/vacuum line should go to the metering oil nozzles.
The middle port goes to the intake manifold (not the extension manifold thats after the throttle body)
The bottom-most port is where the oil vent line goes.

Best way to figure out which hose goes where is to use the markings that are at the end of the hose lines.
Starting at the top of the intake, plug in the hose that has a light tan line.
For the center port, plug in the hose with a dark orangeish line.
The bottom port should have the hose with a dot.

I bought the car with the CAI already on it, but have purchased a stock intake on this site. Should be here this week. They said all the parts were there.

I'll take a look at the hoses. I'm not sure. Like I said, I didn't install it, so I'm not sure where the hoses went but THANKS alot for pointing it out. Now I really could use your help.

I'm assuming it's not too hard to put back on, but I've never done it so I'd appreciate the help.....now, if it needed a root canal we'd be all set......

Funny that you mention that... I have been having some irritation once every few days that will need to get looked at soon. But I'm a baby when it comes to the dentist (no offense) and it'll be difficult to pull me away from my current one... because he uses Nitrous Oxide and I LOVE it.

Should have looked you up when I had my molar pulled a month ago... I still owe $500+ for that.

Dumb question...maybe Jon can answer it. If he were to get the stock airbox is it possible to hide the CAI so he can still run in the stock class? Or are they crafty about that and really look hard for that *****?

The issue would be his aftermarket intake pipe that is behind the bumper and visible through the grill.
Now he could install the stock intake assembly and drop in a K&N filter which will help with performance (small gain).
Or he could purchase the Racing Beat REVi Intake System. This is what I'm buying.
It looks like the stock air box and you can install your engine cover (which you had to leave off with the aftermarket cold air intake)
This will help to convince everyone that it could have been stock... unless they are really knowledgeable with RX8s

A) I don't cheat. Period. Nor do I lie.
B) I'm a newbie. The air intake isn't going to mean a thing until I can learn to DRIVE the course.
C) At the local level, probably nobody cares (I'm not a threat, see "B"). At the national level. You BET! they know and they'll check!
D) I don't cheat and I don't lie. Period. Neither should you!

I didn't say anything about cheating...just looking for alternative solutions. I don't have a CAI nor do I race so I didn't know.

I just called Betsy at MazSport... she told me that they are waiting for some parts overseas to get through customs for my midpipe, but I'm at the top of their list for the next shipments. She is hoping that it won't take much longer to receive them.
I went ahead and purchased the Racing Beat REVi intake, which Betsy told me that they get straight from Racing Beat, so it shouldn't be a problem getting that out to me.
So Tony... if you're still interested in my AEM intake, its all yours.

I bought my RacingBeat exhaust straight from RacingBeat. Is there an advantage to using a different source?

RB Exhuast and REVi intake

just a random question while we're on the topic;

I bought my 8 with the both of these already installed... for those that have driven fully stock and then compared them with the RB exhaust and REVi intake, are there noticeable performance increases? Any sound difference?

All I've been exposed to are the upgraded parts. I am curious if I should look at other options are if these are both pretty good.

Honestly, I'm not overly impresses with the REVi system, but like I said, I don't really know any different.

Yeah, Captains Stadium. You can't miss it. Cones dying everywhere. But this is just a "practice" not a real competition. So far, I'm the only 8 signed up.

I can almost walk there from the house. Looks like a bunch of 3SI people will be there...maybe I will drag the Stealth up there and see if anyone wants to buy it for parts.

Jon, I've got to see what my financial situation is at the end of the week, then I'll let you know for sure.

I'll be at the Eastlake Stadium as an observer too. That way DeViLbOi and I can make fun of Mark together.

BTW, Mark, it's like the military around here: "Respect is not given....It's earned"

.....all in good fun....

Not a prob... I'm not looking at getting it (my intake) until next week, then with Memorial Day weekend coming up, I have plans for the next few weekends.

I don't have the intake but I do have the exhaust. I'm not sure there was any noticable difference in power, but it sounds pretty damn good. If you go to the RB website they even state that the exhaust dosen't really provide any gains, there may be a little, but it won't be noticable by the "butt-dyno".

Sooo....are you implying that my wife is a ditsy brunette that seems like she's drunk all of the time? Mark-----><-----Tony
She's got to work at the hospital on Sunday, so she won't be attending. Hey, somebody's got to put food on the table while I'm out having fun!

As far as signing up for the event, I won't be. I need to save the cash for....well.... something else......I'll bring my helmet, though. -Just in case....you drive off track and run me over.

Jon- Does your AEM have the "sock" thing that covers the filter? Also, I won't need to bother you to help install it. I plan on taking on the project with a buddy of mine. I appreciate the offer, though.

Yes... I do have the sock for the filter.
Also, I can send you the PDF document from AEM for installing the intake.
Only thing I would deviate from is when the instructions tell you to remove your front wheels. I (and others) have taken the bumper off without removing the wheels... might make it easier, but not necessary.

Excellent!

I also read that taking off the undercarriage on the front end is not neccessary either. Is that true? Thankfully I've got another vehicle to drive, so I don't need to get it done in one day.
