If it was a 40th that is Metropolitan Grey. If it wasn't it is probably Galaxy Gray or Titanium Gray.

And for the record rotten teeth that you have to pull are not cool.

Unless they're really jacked up and cleaned.

Then it might be cool.

RK are you going to be needing the voltmeter in Fairlawn this weekend? I just got a request to go to the library from my wife to get more kiddy books. I can drop off my Fluke for you to borrow.

not this weekend. I can do the gauge work without it and the only thing I'm doing with the coils is moving the ground. Thanks for the offer tho. After I fail miserably I'm sure I'll take you up on it.

Ok guys...the other half of my bonus check came in. So right now Im thinking about picking up an exhaust from Fluid as I would really like to get that deeper fuller sound and I think the exhaust is a better investment than an intake. What are your thoughts guys? Im also undecided on brand. Right now that AP one is the best value...but Im unsure on the pros and cons of each yet. (Going to read today...but I would be interested in what you guys have to say Jon, Ryan and Steve)

Honestly John... you've already heard and seen our cars.
We might have a different opinion on what sounds/looks good.
I think you'll be happy with either RB or AP.
Which one sounded the best to you?

Now the AP has larger tips and are more prone to melting your shrouds, but you get a single resonator mid-pipe with it.
Plus, I really love the titanium blue tips.

Fluid is selling the AP with a dual resonated midpipe for the same price as the Borla catback. Sound and look wise I prefer yours Jon...but if there is some big pro or con of either I'd like to know them.

Well... the con with the AP is the dual (or single) resonated mid-pipe (far as sound).
That mid-pipe will not sound like my dual resonated mid-pipe.

I remember seeing a YouTune video of an RX8 with an AP mid-pipe and Borla catback and it made me laugh because that is how my car sounded.
Here it is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuowHM1SUsQ

Now you can always keep the cat on and only put the mid-pipe on when you auto-x.

Another con for the AP is because the tips are 4", you need to observe the rear shrouds while installing.
If it hangs low, might have to bend a hanger to allow more tolerance.
And you've heard what the AP sounds like with loose rivets too.

Now I have the AP catback, Ryan has the Borla, and Steve has the RB (surprise).
But our mid-pipes change the sound of the catback, so its hard to judge between our cars when you're looking at just the catback.

Well.. the YouTube video I posted above is what it'll sound like.
There is a member here (05rex8) that owned the AP dual resonated mid-pipe and said it sounded like the single.
Loud, raspy, and annoying.
He ended up buying the MazSport mid-pipe and said there was a major difference and it was much better.

Can't get to the YouTubes at the office. Although Im really not interested in having a loud exhaust...just a fuller exhaust.

You can always buy the AP and sell the mid-pipe.
Then wait for future mid-pipes in development and see if they sound good.
I'm sure Ryan will be the first to jump on it when it comes out (and probably Steve too).

Then just stay away from midpipes - at least until we see what RB does with their dual resonated one.

The AP 'dual resonated' apparantly has two chambers but I don't think they both have silencers in the chambers. Mazsport used 2 RB silencers but didn't quite have the fitment right so now that Mazsport is gonzo RB has taken up the project of getting two silencers in a dual resonated midpipe but getting a little better fitment.

You've heard my exhaust with a cat. While it's louder it's also deeper and it's not annoying so I don't get complaints when I'm driving with it in Granny mode. I'm sure I could wake up some of my neighbors if I wanted to. The B&B, Hymee, and AP all get around the same marks as the Borla so I don't think you can go that wrong.

Yea...I was just reading through the RB thread. Looks promising. Brice does sell the AP without the midpipe...but you only save $200. While I could sell it I don't think I would get that much for it. As for comparing your cars I don't think it is really fair to the Borla as Ryan still has his cat on. The Borla does stick out funny and Im not really a fan of that so that is why I leaned towards the AP. You guys think we could fix the AP issues with the hangers without much issue?

Every car is different.
I didn't have to modify anything when I installed mine.
Only reason my shrouds melted is because I forgot to attach the rear grommets, so it laid on shrouds for about 15 miles.
But if you look at the rear of my car, you couldn't tell it melted.
The shrouds melt in the rear, and the large tips makes it difficult to see the rear of the shrouds.

I read one thread where someone used a clamp around the grommet to compress it.
This allowed the catback to rise towards the hanger without having to bend it.
I thought that was a great idea.

Hey John... I forgot about this:
http://www.vimeo.com/1326237

Its the video I made comparing the stock cat and MazSport's mid-pipe (with the AP catback).
This will at least give you an idea how the AP sounds with a stock cat (from within the car).

There's a lot of piping going on there. It's heavier than most and uses full 3" piping throughout. Here's what Borla says their exhausts are made out of:

I know steel alloys about as well as I know quantum physics but that sounds impressive.
