docgatorx8er 05-04-2008 07:13 AM

The guy with the black RX8 that was parked across the street just PMd me. I told him to come next time and sorry we missed the hook up.

Nice pics Jonnyspeed. We'll do better next time.

Gopherage 05-04-2008 11:36 AM

Thats pretty awesome that he ended up contacting someone after that note. Was he already a member?

docgatorx8er 05-04-2008 04:57 PM

Yeah, it was ShinkaRex.

Hopefully, he can make it next time.

He seemed glad we left the note. He didn't mention that it was written in crayon though......

DeViLbOi 05-04-2008 05:09 PM

Actually Gopherage wrote the note so it wouldn't run in the rain. Pretty good idea! He's college edumacated you know........

docgatorx8er 05-05-2008 09:04 AM

My kids love the car....they are going to be so psyched to see all the 8s together along with ice cream. Kid Nirvana.....me too!!!!

Gopherage 05-05-2008 04:14 PM

Well its good your bringing your kids then :) I always get a kick outta passing mini-vans on the highway and seeing the kids faces in the windows staring at the car as I go by. I always hope they are staring at the 8 in particular and not just every car that goes by.

Btw i hope you don't let them eat the ice cream in the car haha!

tony_673 05-05-2008 04:17 PM

Anyone here going to the Eastlake Test and Tune this sunday? I might go up there to "observe".

DeViLbOi 05-05-2008 06:09 PM

Sunday is Mother's Day...going to be out on the West Side all day long. DOH!

DeViLbOi 05-05-2008 06:37 PM

WOOHOO! My AFE Short Shifter arrived today. If anyone in the area is looking at maybe buying one I should have mine installed later this week if you want to see what it is like. Like I said above...I will be in North Ridgeville on Sunday next week in case a west sider wants to get a feel for it. Just let me know in advance so I can make sure it is installed by then.

I was thinking about buying one... curious to see how it performs.
Its not at the top of my list right now, so I'll check it out when we have our next meet.
I'm currently troubleshooting recent misfires, so my money is going towards installing new ignition coils from Mazsport and probably ditch my AEM CAI for the Racing Beat Revi.

DeViLbOi 05-05-2008 07:14 PM

What did you think of the CAI? Seems like a waste from what I heard unless you go with FI.

Honestly... when you go FI, the kit (turbo or supercharger) comes with a CAI design to fit with their application. The CAI does give you little gain... ~1.5HP (more like average HP), ~3.8HP peak (surprisingly 8300rpm), and ~5.1HP maximum (unbolting the knock sensor so the ecu doesn't retard the ignition, even when there is no actual detonation occurring). Only really difference you'll notice is sound (which does sound nice).
The stock air box was designed very well. The VFAD was designed to keep the sound down.

How much do you want for the intake? For the right price I might be up for it.....:naughty:

I'll probably see you in Eastlake on Sunday, Mark. You can show me how it's done. :)

Never really research what people charge/pay for used intakes.
I was thinking $100... how does that sound?
Filter was just cleaned a couple weeks ago, which is nice because its a dry-flow, so you don't use oil, only an $8 solution bottle that can be picked up at Summit Racing.

Jon316G 05-05-2008 10:00 PM

While I'm at it... anyone interested in an AP single resonator midpipe?:)

Do you have any pics of it? How tough was it to install? How soon are you looking to get rid of it? I might just pick this up.

1) yes... I have a pic its from when I first installed it (attached). I've since taken out the bottom air box section because I thought it looked ugly.
2) nope... pretty simple. you'll have to remove the front bumper. A couple beers might pay for my services :naughty:
3) June or July... I'll probably contact Scott at Mazsport by the end of the week to add this to my order.

Remember, respect your elders.........................Let's see I've done this once, I weigh about twice what you do, and I'm the "old" guy here. Now there's a formula for fast..........................yeah, do what I do.........:banghead:

I have a lot of things I want to do on my car, and these days beer is cheaper than gas, give me a call...........

Seriously though. I need to remove a custom intake and replace it with stock (can't use the custom intake in autocross stock class). Could you maybe give me a hand? Ought to be worth at least a Guiness.............

Tony runs a different class. He can use it.
