You guys are pigeon-holing me into only talking about Autocross. I am clearly not coming across well here. I give up. signed - Dad

VezRX 12-30-2008 06:13 PM

Well Jon if you can manage to stay awake you are welcome to come over for a beer.

Jon316G 12-30-2008 06:15 PM

Maybe since I have the bar and pool table, I could host a get-together new years eve.
Never thought about it until now.

We aren't "pigeon-holing" you into only discussing auto-x...
I'm sure when spring/summer comes around everyone will be talking about it more.
I felt the same way this year when there were several pages of auto-x talk and I felt "left out".
Don't give up on us yet dad. :)

VezRX 12-30-2008 06:24 PM

Aww well Jon I have a 2y/o and don't know any babysitters so I cant come over :D

New topic. Well you are a dentist. I own a Sonicare, what is your opinion of this brush? :icon16:

DeViLbOi 12-30-2008 06:58 PM

n00b - Get clear corners on that biznatch before we shoot you. :P And as for New Years Eve...Im going to spend it here playing Guitar Hero and sleeping early because I work New Years Day.

Doc - I think the problem here is that you guys agree. Jon can't answer your question because he believes that modding to mod is stupid too. You modded your car for more speed while racing. Jon modded his car for an education not because he felt he had to. Ryan is modding his car on his way to FI...maybe. I modded my car to personalize it and take it to what I consider a more finished look. ShinkaTeen modded his car with stickers because he believes it provides more horsepower. And finally Alfy modded his car with MS Paint because he found it to be cheaper. The best person to ask would be someone like MySQL who as far as I know doesn't race his car via autox or track but put a big ass turbo in it. He might get you to an answer...but most likely you will both end up agreeing to disagree.

Lol @ clears. I see so many with them that it is not as attractive as the first time I had seen them! Wonder if they have some smoked LED ones. Hmmmmmmmm.

That and I am preparing for FI.
This is why I focused on midpipe, AccessPort, and BHR coils this year.
Everything else comes in a basic FI kit.
And kinda going back to our previous discussing on "performance" mods.
Some performance mods aren't necessarily meant for HP gain, but are more stable and robust than OEM components that regains lost performance (like the BHR coils).

Now I do plan on dropping my transmission just to check it out, and will install a lighter flywheel and new clutch while its out.
Maybe I'll do that in my new garage.

Lol you hate the stocks eh?

Jon I would like to come help with that. I have only done a clutch and tranny on my old plymouth laser. I have never done a RWD.

Neither have I... :)
But its another thing I want done before going FI.

DeViLbOi 12-30-2008 07:31 PM

Yes...the Amber corners stick out like a sore thumb on every color but VC and maybe NG. BB, LY, WP and BC need at least tinted corners. The other colors need clear.

What about VR?

DeViLbOi 12-30-2008 07:38 PM

Should be VR not VC

VezRX 12-30-2008 07:39 PM

Well I looked at the ones you found and they are lumees that look like someone took window tint to some stock ones. All-be-it a good job still what it looked like to me.

Edit: When are you getting your new garage and planning on doing this?

DeViLbOi 12-30-2008 07:55 PM

lumees? The ones I was talking about are stock amber corners with painted tint on them. Looks like a nice job and are better than clear corners because they hold the line of the car and don't stick out like the clears.

VezRX 12-30-2008 08:01 PM

Luminescent and yes I saw those. I will keep looking for something to swap them out with that I like. Right now I am most concerned with getting the body strait and paint fixed up. I would also like to get the appearance package for it.

Doc

We won't get the keys until Sunday... so the "big move" won't happen until the weekend after.
Thanks for the offer.

Christmas loss

A friend of a friend of a friend of mine was killed in Iraq Christmas morning by a mortar round. He was a surgeon who wrote about some of his experiences for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Here's a link to one of his articles.

May God bring us peace in the New Year!

Well, Jon was down here for about 15 minutes... I did the deflood correct, but just didn't crank it long enough. Oh well, next time I'll know.

John - The problem I have with the mid pipe is the rattle... its not a clean sound like Jon's or Ryan's. I have plans to get under there with some header heat wrap and see if that improves it at all.

Jon - Thanks again for coming. Next weekend is open for your move.

Ryan - Shut up jerk face! Ive had the car for a year on March 3rd, and this is the first time Its flooded. Forgive for thinking it may be something more severe. December hasn't been a good month for my car.

Vex - Sorry we got it running so quick. Personally, I think clear corners are the way to go. That way you can put in any color bulb you want. (Not blue)
As for new years, I'm headed off to Pittsburgh tonight.

About the Modding debate: I have the silliest mods on my car. From subs to stickers etc.... I think its about adding to the experience of owning the car. For some, the experience is Auto X, for some, its looking cool (or thinking you look cool) Some its gaining technical knowledge, and for some its racing around a track a 90mph. You guys talked about the goal of modding - for each of the reasons it is to enhance the experience of the car is some form.
I'd just leave it at that. :grouphug:

Heh. I think it's been a great month for your car. It got new spark plugs, got its pipes cleaned, and even got that restrictive grounding kit pulled off. Your car probably loves you more than ever.

OTOH it's been a really rough month for you. :)

Don't forget where the problem started. . . new pads and rotors. :eyetwitch
Which reminds me... I still have yet to fix the calipers. And install a catch can.

Anybody know how to restore a lost Outlook Express file.

I've done the restore from backup procedure, but it won't import the file. The file headers must be damaged.

Help.
