After AutoX BBQ - Frederick, MD Sept. 15th
WHAT?
This BBQ will start after the CDC AutoX Event held that morning/early afternoon @ Harry Grove Stadium . This BBQ is not related to CDC or the AutoX other than we are going to be going there, you are welcome to just come to the BBQ after or spectate/ride along with us or we are always happy to have more RX-8's in the Autocross scene (rotary represent fool!)(and Nate of course, which by this time will probably be driving a BRZ full time... but we forgive you).
If you do want to run at the event I suggest registering by the week prior at the latest to ensure you have a spot.
WHERE?
Downtown Frederick MD. Fredrick is not that far from the PA, WV, or VA state lines.
PARKING
I live downtown. If you have never been to Frederick it as a small to modest sized downtown area that is more a "historic" section than a metropolitan setting. On street parking is free on Sundays, and typically is readily available on Sunday afternoons. Depending on how many people actually show up I would like to try and park on Market st first, really just because it would be a cool photo opp to have 8's lines up along there.
There is also an area behind market where there is additional parking if needed. I have highlighted the best places to park on Market and in the back area in green.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
You can really bring anything you like, food, drinks, chips, etc. If you are going to AutoX just don't bring anything that won't make it for several hours in the sun.
I'm going to go ahead and say if you have any folding/camping chairs bring them. You will probably want them for Autocross anyways and with this many people coming I'm not sure there is enough seating in the garden so bring a chair to be safe.
RSVP
It would be nice if you can RSVP, just so I can get an idea of the food to have available etc, but you can always show up anyways.

There is usually space around back if anyone has mods they want to do that require (or would be easier) extra hands. I know denim had said he may want to install some
BHR coils, and if he does I told him I would help him, but I would be happy to help anyone else with anything that time allows for. DO NOT TRY TOO DO ANY MODDING ON MARKET STREET! As you will likely get run over and killed.

Payment to CDC is due in cash only at the time of registration, $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers for a TnT day.

Looking forward to it. Will be nice to see how the CDC is compared to the dead serious AX in DC.
Edit: Just noticed something, on the CDC site is says the 15th is a "test and tune" day with the actual autocross the day before on the 14th.

You are correct, it is a test and tune day... which would be different from a regular SCCA solo event... but I have no idea how it would be different from a regular day at a CDC event.

Test and Tune days are like regular autocross days, but with less participants and more runs, like 10 or more. If you're not in the regular season points running then it's the way to go I'd say. There's not really an expectation that you'll literally 'test and tune' your car, (although many of you with adjustable coilovers may find you are too low!) You can just say youre testing and tuning yourself! Of course CDC is a much more relaxed atmosphere than SCCA. There is still the emphasis on safety and such, but there is less competitive feel, more just about enjoying the event really.
As always, I'm happy to do ride-alongs and co-drives, my driver seat is always up for grabs. My car is totally stock but does ride on 245/40/18 Star Specs so it's pretty quick for autocross.
I'll likely not be bringing the wife as she would never give up an opportunity to sleep in on a Sunday.

I will definitely take you up on the ride along (both as a passenger with you and having you as a passenger with me) as I am always grateful for advice/experience.
This will actually be my first time at Harry Grove, which is funny because it is like only a mile from me..lol.

In my car or my apartment? My apartment will not hold everyone(actually it probably wouldn't be that bad), but there is a nice sized garden area behind that belongs to our building with a couple grills and seats /benches that should provide ample room.
I would be happy to have you or anyone that wants to ride along with me, Nate is the ranking experienced AutoXer though...
It was riding with him that got me into Autocross, it was a "Whoa... the car can do that?" Kind of experience.

I'd be happy to let people ride with me as well, just preferably before they ride with Nate; I'm hoping to impress for at least a couple of minutes before he comes along and blows me away. The man can flippin' drive!

Heh thanks for the ego boost fellas! I think with enough seat time on this TNT day some of our novices will be like old pros by the end of the day.
I also think it'd be fun if we just tossed each others keys around for the autox, you'd be surprised at the age these cars are just how different each of them feel to drive! I driven I think 7 or 8 different rx8s and they've all felt unique.
I did plan to bring the 8 but if any of you guys wanted to sample the BRZ I can bring it instead, POLL: NATE BRINGS RX8 or BRZ?
I also think it'd be fun if we just tossed each others keys around for the autox, you'd be surprised at the age these cars are just how different each of them feel to drive! I driven I think 7 or 8 different rx8s and they've all felt unique.
