WOO HOO!!! Picked mine up tonight!

Well......after all of the waiting and bitching I have done over the past few months......my car has arrived!:D

I just got home with it a little while ago, and I can't stop looking at it! It is beautiful! I got the Titanium, black/chapparal int, 6spd, GT package, rotary accent package, no nav.

Well....I'm going to go put some miles on it and get aquainted with it.

My review to follow....

Excellent!!! Congrats!!! You WILL have a ****-eating grin on your face for a long, long time.

If I see another titanium grey 8 driving around St Charles, I will assume it is you. I may have asked this before, but what part of St Charles are you in? I live in Dardenne Prairie (Hwy K & N).

Alright 91vert, you've had the car for 2 days now. It's time to put it to bed for a while and let us know what you think. :D

OK......I picked the car up Wednesday night and now have about 1500 miles under my belt now. I drove it to Ohio and back this past weekend. Wow!!! This car is SO fun. I could go on and on forever about all of the positive things, but I'll spare you all the repetition from all of the other rave reviews posted on this forum.

Few minor complaints.....
It has been a little hard to get used to. I find it "uncomfortable" (not seats-wise) to drive through heavy traffic because it is really hard to see out of when checking your blind spot. I'm sure that will get better over time as I get more used to it. I'm currently feeling like I am going to change lanes and run right into somebody.

I don't care what anybody else says about the A/C, but I think it absolutely SUCKS!! I plan on reporting the problems with it to the dealership and see what their service guys say. Something is definitely wrong with the way the compressor cycles. It cycles for just a few seconds at a time, and then stays disengaged for too long. On the trip to Ohio....going down the highway at a steady 75mph, I experienced the cool, warm, cool, warm, cool, warm phenomenon that others have mentioned on here. And when I say warm....it was WARM! Holding my hand up at the vent through a few of these "cycles", it felt like the temperature of the air coming out of the vents changed by at least 20 degrees or more. Everytime the compressor would kick on, I would get the cloud of water vapor spewing out too which is kinda cool to look at, but at the same time distracting. They have definitely got a flaw in the electronics/mechanism that controls the compressor cycling.

Only other thing I have noticed that I can't seem to get used to, is that it is very hard to "find" the right gear sometimes......especially 6th. I suppose that will get better as time goes by. The clutch is great, but a little hard to get the feel of. Still a little jerky going from 1st to 2nd.

All in all.....I am very happy with the car. It was worth the long wait.

In regards to visibility, I think it's just what you are use to. I'm coming from an Acura RSX Type-S and the blind spot in that thing was AWFUL!!! I couldn't see worth s#!t! Going to the RX-8, the visibility is great (comparatively). I feel MUCH more comfortable. So, I'm sure you will get use to it.

Knock on wood, but so far, I haven't experienced the A/C cycling thing. I hope that doesn't just come in time (I'm almost @ 600 miles). When you have it checked at the dealer, let us know what they say and if they are able to fix it.

Again, coming from a very nice 6-speed tranny in the RSX, I love the RX-8. It's definitely the easiest stick I have driven. The only thing that took me a little while to get use to , was where the clutch engaged. It's very low to the floor. But, I've adapted and can shift pretty smoothly now.

BTW, I just Zaino'd the car this weekend. First time I've used Zaino. WOW!!! What a difference. I highly recommend it.

And I thought I was putting the miles on fast. I'm already at 875 now in just over a week. This car is incredible. I just want to drive and drive and drive.

BTW excellent color combo choice!

I need to try that Zaino stuff. Can you buy that at any stores, or do you have to order it from somewhere?

Online only @ zainobros.com.

I only used the Z1 (polish lok) and Z2 (polish). That's about all the time I can spend on a car. You will NOT be disappointed!
