I need help finding a better dealer. I am also looking for one that does not use Enterprise Rental for it's loaner cars.

DEFINITELY not Cook. Read here, and avoid them at all costs. I don't even want to bring it in for recalls anymore 'cause they'll give me **** and smile while doin it.

You can go to Sterling Mazda in Sterling Heights. I've had good experiences with them so far. But I haven't had anything challenging for them yet.

They use Hertz for the loaners. I don't think you'll find any dealer that doesn't use a car rental company to do their loaners.

I bought from Lee at Sesi Mazda, couldn't be happier.
As for your question on the Livonia Ralph Thayer. When I went there Sep 2004, I dealt with their internet sales manager Jay, and he was truly useless. He didn't know about any of the flashes and thought I was dead wrong when I told him that the HP is actually 238 and not 250. On top of that, he quoted me $550 a month for a 2 year lease (zero down) for a GT without Navi, and when I confronted him about not offering me the dealer cash and other incentives (thanks to RX8club.com for the research), he said oh, that's not for the customer, it's for the dealer. haha what a joke. I walked away and never came back.

I ditto the response about Thayer. I wanted deal with them in April, dealt with the sales manager directly, and the paper work was cutting my trade-in in half... agreed and then revoked.. I wanted a Winning Blue all he would sell me was Red, silver, or black. No, I'll look for one or nothing. I dont know about service, but their selling blows chunks. I bought my shiney blue 8 over at Crippen in Lansing. They were awsome. They wouldn't let me leave without going through everything twice. But they arn't really SE MI. I think I'll have to visit SESI for service...

Today I brought my car back to Cook because my GPS cursor was stuck and no longer following on the map. They changed some of the service techs and advisors, and for the most part I am satisfied, but they said they couldn't recalibrate my system so they'll order a whole new system. We'll see if they call in a week, it's been my experience that they won't.

As far as Sesi, my friend just bought a 3 there and said it was pretty decent. So, that may be the best SE MI dealer.

It sucks to hear so many complaints about Cook Mazda. I purchased my Shinka from them in Sept of this year and they have been great so far. I had to bring the car back just a few days after I purchased it for a problem with the wax job......and then took care of it for free and gave me a loaner for the day. I haven't taken it in for service yet....and now I am kind of worried about doing so. My first oil change is about a week away and I think I have a blown door speaker that needs to be changed. Has anyone had any issues with Cook in the last 3 months? I heard they've made a lot of changes to their service personnel.

It's not so much that they are consistently bad, its just (in my experience) one really terrible experience that tainted the others. They were always courteous and tried to be helpful, but there's little hangups (like not calling back when they're supposed to - a pet peeve of mine). I'm interested in the speaker issue, I've had mine about 20 months and I think they're going too. Let us know how it goes (and if they're willing to replace it w/o hassle)
