I doubt I'll do more than Gingerman until next year. I'm assuming I'm going to enjoy it and it won't be too rough on me, so I figure I'll eventually want to get all kinds of stuff, and I'm guessing track pads will be on the list.
Although I did see NASA is doing an autobahn event in October, but it looks like they've got a ton of other stuff going on that day besides HPDE, so I don't know whether it will be worth it or not. Will depend on the cost, I guess. I might consider that one since it's less than an hour from my house.

Hopefully I won't have to pilfer all your stuff, as the only thing I was planning on bringing was my tool box, just in case we needed it for something. I feel so inadequate
Oh yeah - I was planning on bringing some extra oil and a tire pressure gauge. That catches me up a little bit

A couple people have recommended to me that I pick up an extra set of front pads to take to the track. Do you guys agree? If so, should I get rear pads as well? Anything else that I'd need for a pad change?

Since your pads are 100% new, I wouldn't worry about anything past this.

Well, I don't know about 100% new, but they have less than 15000 miles on them.
Are there any auto parts stores near the track that would have pads if I needed them (and be open on Saturdays)? I checked one of the online mazda dealers and it was 99 bucks for a set of front pads, so I'm not in a hurry to spend it if I won't need them, but am willing to spend it if I might need to get them swaped out during the weekend.

If you are going to spend money on a 2nd set of pads don't waste the time on OEM pads.
15,000 miles on the car you should not need to worry. Track time will wear the pads quicker than the street but its not going to cut 30 or 40,000 miles off the pad life for 1 weekend.
You should be fine.

I called and made a reservation at the comfort suites, but they said I was the last one that the NASA rate was available for. Apparently NASA waited too long to post the info, and many of the rooms got taken up by other reservations.

Turns out I only have 10,000 miles on my front pads - they got replaced at 5000 miles for the squeaking TSB. So I'm even better there than I thought.
I remember somebody telling me that it is a good idea to add a few pounds of air to your tires for a track day. I have a small air compressor that I might be able to fit into the car, depending on how much other stuff gets packed in there. Should I bring that for us if I can, or is air easily accesable at the track?

They have a compressor available at the track so don't worry about it. And tire pressures depend on a lot of things. I generally lower mine a few lbs from what I drive them on the street.
And for the squeeky brake pads I don't know what they were doing for those, if they were using a different compound pad or if they were putting on new pads with the caliper grease. The squeal was just from having an aggressive compound which would mean better braking. You should hear our track pads squeal when they are cold. Makes the very faint noises from the stock pads seem non existent.
Hopefully they didn't go with a less aggressive compound.

Unfortunitly I'll be in NY for the Baby Shower. I am though going to Autobahn on Sept. 29,30 and Oct. 1st. The shelby club is charging $225 Sat. for north track, $225 Sun. for south track and $245 on Monday for the full track. I'm only doing one day but not sure which one yet.

Yet another question I came up with...
As you know the 4AT doesn't have as much cooling equipment as your cars do. It only has one oil cooler, and the trans cooler is built into the radiator. I'm planning on getting the Parardox upgraded AT radiator when it comes out, and perhaps a second oil cooler, but until then I've got what I've got...
Knowing that heat is the main enemy of rotaries, I bought a ScanGauge and mounted it on the dash, mainly to be able to have a real water temp gauge. My question is this - when I'm on the track, I'm sure I'll be running higher water temps than normal. At what temp should I start getting concerned and pull into the pits? I think I remember that a 50/50 coolant mix will boil around 260 or 265, but I don't think I want to wait that long
