Upcoming WI/IL Track Days
I don't see that they are cording but I only have one set of wheels so I need to them off. They are to dangerous for the street, every time I hit a bump the backend wants to slide out and I drove them in the rain last week and I could barely keep the back end planted. As for the alignment, I have a pretty aggressive one right now (at least I think it is) -1.4 both front 0 toe, -1.8 both rear with 1/8th total toe in. I don't want to destroy my winter tires. So I might as well go to stock now rather then doing it again in Nov. Also remember that my steering wheel isn't straight when the car is tracking straight. The stock alignment should be fine for this weekend and Gingerman.
I just made my hotel reservations. Only place I could find with rooms were the comfort suites for around 150 a night and the holiday inn express. The AAA rate on Holiday Inn's website was 117 per night. We booked our room for friday and Saturday night.
Looks like rooms may be hard to come by that weekend, so if you are planning on going I'd go ahead and book right away.
I'm also booked for the track day (both days), so hurry up and join me!

Mac & Red,
If I can find a hotel with more then one room would you guys like to share? We can lower our costs

Yea I know you said you needed an alignment due to your steering wheel. I know RedDevil's alignment is as aggressive as yours and he left it on last winter with no ill effects on his snow tires. I think I am also going to dial some camber into my car before gingerman as well.
That's the thing I don't run it to hard on the street. I only drive it 25 miles a day. I'm curious to see what my rear alignment is at. It could of changed from the original -1.8 or the toe could of changes as well. I know I want to add more camber then stock but not sure how much more. In looking at the stock settings I may just add a few tenths to them. Thinking -.8 front, -1.3 rear. 0 toe front and 1/32 total toe in the rear. I also found the alignment sheet I got after we put in my shocks. Before the alignment I had -1.9 in the front and -2.2 in the rear. Now that's aggressive.
That's a good idea, keeping the box. I guess I'll use the original box to store the helmet in when I'm not using it. Hopefully that way my wife won't throw it out in one of her cleaning rampages
Do any of you guys wear driving gloves at all on the track? I was just wondering because back in my athletic days, I often had to spray that sticky stuff on my hands (insert dirty comment here) to play basketball because my hands got so sweaty. I don't think it will be a big deal on a track day as I can just wipe my hands on my pants on the straightaways, but if it is a hot day I know I'll be sweating like a pig with having jeans and a long sleeve shirt on.

Well I got back from the dealer, and now I know why my rear tires were bald. It turns out the shop that did my last alighnment stripped both alignment bolts in the rear
So over time the alighnment changed. Originally I has -1.8 camber in the rear, before todays alighnment it was at -3.4 in the left and -3.6 in the right. They are replacing the bolts on Monday. By any chance does anyone know how to convert degrees? For instance I asked them to set front toe to 0 but the sheet say's .19 degrees total toe. The rear i requested 1/16 total toe but the sheet says .25 degrees total toe. Any ideas, google isn't working to well.

Were they worn just on the inside edges? That kind of camber would sure do it. I thought there were people around here reporting they couldn't get that kind of camber out of this car though???
Do any of you that are going to Gingerman for the NASA event have one of those temporary tent/canopy/tarp things that Blue had at the Autobahn Mazda event? I'm thinking it would be a good idea if we had one of those.
Wonder how much they cost and where to get them? Maybe Blue has some advice. I'd be willing to buy one for us if the price isn't too outrageous (and assuming I can fit it in my car for transport - I'm assuming that's how Blue got it there).
Do you guys think I should pick up a spare set of front brake pads for the weekend, just in case? I don't know how to change them, but I'm sure I could bribe one of you to do it with cash, beer, food, etc
I've got just under 15000 miles on the car. I don't think I'm too hard on the brakes in my daily driving, but I have no idea how hard I will be on them on a track day.
