St. Louis TV coverage
FYI for anyone who gets FOX Channel 2 from St. Louis.
On this Friday Morning March 24, Tim Ezell will be doing his traveling segment from Gateway International Raceway on the Sports Car Club of America, preceeding this weekends Double Driver's School and Regional Races. I believe the LIVE coverage begins at 6:35 am (I will start taping at 6:00 am to be sure). I do not know how late it will go but often there are several segments over the 2 hours (6 - 8 am). There will be several cars shown to demonstrate the different type of classes and vehicles used in SCCA Road Racing. I suspect there may be more than one Rotary Engine car, but one for sure!
The "Tuxedo Park Racing" RX-8, driven by owner Steven Burkett, will be the car used to give Tim Ezell a ride around the 1.65 road course (inside the Oval) and provide "in car" footage. If you have never seen the facility or know about the road course this should be very informative. Steve's car is a Silver 2004 model that normally runs in the "T3" class. Steve is a top-notch driver and mechanic and began his racing career in a 1st Generation RX-7. A still picture of the car can be found at: http://tuxedoparkracing.com/
Although there will be cars on the track Friday and Saturday for the Driver's School, the RACING will occur on Sunday. There will be MANY Mazda and Rotary Powered cars in attendance including RX-7s, RX-8s, Miatas by the dozens, and "Formula" cars. More info can be found at: http://www.stlscca.org/
For those of you interested in Performance Rally and know of the "100 Acre Wood" I have posted about; we also expect to see the "1986 Jeep Comanchee RALLY TRUCK" driven by Jim Stevens, making it's debut on the road course in the "ITE" class!
BTW , Admission, parking, and pit access are all free! On track activities begin at 8:00 am and usually go untill 4 - 5 pm. Everyone is welcome, Come on out!
