St Louis area 8 owners

Hey all, I haven't been on here in forever. Lots of new names and some old familiars... Ferret, I'm talking to you.
I'm getting rid of some stuff I've been hanging onto for a while I have been deciding whether or not I want to get rid of the 8 next year. I figured I'd offer the stuff up here first before I put it on craigslist or the Sell/Trade portion of this site.
- OEM (2005) 18" wheels in great condition (only used for autocross and track days). They currently have a set of Kumho V710s on them with about 20% of life left on them. I'll take $600 for the set.
- Racing Beat Full suspension. Only on the car for a year - $300 (link: http://www.racingbeat.com/Mazda-Perf...sionPackageRX8)
I'd be willing to separate the springs ($100) and sways ($200)
- OEM shocks (less than 1,000 miles on them) - $150
PM me if you are interested in anything.

If I already didn't blow a lot of money on upgrades, I'd be interested in the Racing Beat kit. Selling the bike anytime soon? :D

So, funny story...
I took some food to school on friday in a cooler in my trunk. Mom gave me what she said was an icepack. Well, I left the cooler in there and didn't take it out. Today I noticed my car smelt horrible. So I opened my trunk, and looked in the cooler. The so called "ice pack" was definitely a huge piece of deer meat. That was now rotting in my car, for six days. I am now attempting to get this smell out of my car, as it is the worst thing I have ever smelt.

If nobody jumps on the suspension here, I'll hold off a couple weeks before posting it on the Sell/Trade forum just in case you change your mind.

LOL! I finally made the decision to get rid of the bike yesterday and I already found a buyer. If that falls through I'll keep you in mind.

My stock suspension is developing some interesting sounds recently (creaking, and some weird thump at low speed turning). This next week I am going to take a closer look at everything. If something needs replacing, I will take the suspension stuffs without hesitation.

In all seriousness, that is too much bike for me at the moment; I have yet to take the MSF course even.

If you're getting a creaking, that could be a sway bar bushing needing some lubing. Of course if you go with my RB sways you'll get polyurethane bushings which just love to squeak when not lubed. It's easy enough to do, though.
As far as the thump, you might have a tie rod end needing replaced. That's a cheap, easy fix... especially when changing out springs!

I say we start planning chicago since its only like 3 weeks away and the sooner the better especially when working with hotels...can we get a poll on people who are planning to drive?

I don't think it is totaled, but idk if there was any underbody damage or not. The exhaust looked like it might have been bent and dented a little bit. Couldn't really tell. I will have my dad try to take some better pictures today when he looks at it.

Well, we took it to a body shop today, and they are going to start pulling stuff off tomorrow. He is going to fix all my dents and hail damage while it is in, and will repaint the eyelids nate gave me, and is going to try to get a trunk with a spoiler on it already. I think I might come out of this alright.
My only worry is that the car is making a weird whirring/whining noise when revved. It seems to be coming from the engine or transmission, but we aren't sure what.

well you can always ask the body shop how they handle aftermarket parts to replace the damaged parts
some companies will quote you for the replacement of the parts and if you purchase the parts they will give you the money that they had quoted.
this happened with my IS300. I got a seibon carbon hood for less then the factory replacement, and they even painted it to my specs for the same money they would have painted it normally.i also got an upgraded intake as well as a sportdesign grill when it all came through i had made money off the parts i had purchased. It dropped my deductible from 250 to 100ish and i got all the upgrades.
if you ever get a wheel damaged in a wreck it is the perfect time to pick up those aftermarket wheels you have been eyeing.

Making your own grill is about the most annoying thing I have ever done. Forming it wasnt bad but when it came time to attach it I hated it. Done now though and I think it looks really good. My exhaust is finally on its way and should be here next wednesday for sure.
Unfortunatly im going to be really bust with school next week so hopefully i have time to get it put on.
