I'm leaving at 4:30 AM if you think it's early for you....ugghhh. Last weekend I left at 3:30 AM for the Chicago Rev It Up. That was a long ride and a long day. It will be worth it, you will see. :D

Sean's 8 had absolutely nothing happen to his, he has a black one that has a few other options than mine and he walked away with his in tact. I am thinking that these people either were jealous or were just friggin idiots who would do this to their Grandma. Having grown up in the St. Louis area (Alton) I know that people are a bit different down there, or at least that is what I remembered. I am going to be cautious but I am still going, none the less. I also will keep an eye out for other people showing their cars there when they are out on their run. The only persons to blame here are the ******** that did this. I hope to see you there.
I'll also add that while there was no physical damage to mine (that I know of) , I still watched people get in and slam the shifter through gears, manually flip my nav screen up and down, go through my center console, etc. etc. However, it was worth it to be able to meet the non-******** and talk with them about the 8- you wouldn't believe how many of them read a single post on the forum about a failed engine, or flooding, or 10mpg mileage, and took it as gospel that Mazda was churning out $30k lemons. It was a good time with good people for the most part, and I got a tan in April in Illinois- how can you beat that?

Are you guys still meeting at Dave & Busters at 6:15 tomorrow morning?

Are you guys displaying your cars in the enthusiast tent? Is that why you are getting there that early?

I didn't see your cars on the list of people that were displaying, so I was just wondering.

I displayed my car yesterday. No problems. There was also a turbo-ed RX-7 and a turbo-ed Miata. Both very sweet, but among the three of us the 7 stole the show. Damn it was nice.

Went today, will be posting a few pics on the forum when I get home tomorrow night. Had a great time being there, was a bit windy and chilly but, still had a good time. Met several MO members there, 91vert (Kevin), renaldo (Matt), chrichton and Jeff (sorry I couldn't remember your forum name).

While there Jeff sold me his K & N Intake with the heat shield kit and Benjamin (the guy with the yellow turbocharged RX-7 of which I will post some information and pics later on another thread that will be titled St. Louis Rev it Up) took control of the install. Thanks go out ot Benjamin and Jeff. Jeff brought some tools back with the CAI and others went out to scavage the go kart place for those we needed in addition.

We all stayed 30 minutes after they closed hurrying to get it put on and get out of there. Everyone wanted to hear it fire up to see what the sound was like. So, I start the engine and hit it up a few RPMs to get it going...nice!! It had a deep throaty sound to it as it revved up.

I took it out the gate where everyone had just left before me to see Benjamin in his RX-7 doing a bit of showing off at the other end of the lot, donuts and a bit of drifting in that 400 HP yellow screamer. I revved a little and let out the clutch and did just a tiny bit of wheel hop as I smoked them accross the lot with the intake screaming out LOUD! Yes, I disabled the DTC before doing this.

I slowed at the end and turned around to come back, everyone was waving me off but I just didn't know why until I passed stopped next to the guy in the mini van that was directly behind me and it was the guy who runs the Mazda Rev it Ups. I got a well deserved scolding about not doing that in the lot because they rent it and if the owners seen us cutting up like that he may not be able to rent it again for the next one. I understood his point and made my appologies and drove off the lot like a Grandmother. :D

I lost sight of everyone else who had to scatter when I was on my way back. Thanks guys for trying to warn me, I just didn't have a clue...Oh well, there is one in every crowd and I guess I was the one today. I guess there goes my shift **** and perhaps Falken replacement tires.

D MENAC -- glad the intake worked out. After hearing it I couldn't help but think maybe should get one myself! How was the drive back? Feel different?

And don't forget to update your profile!

Thanks, Jeff! I tried to look up your article to remember your forum name but couldn't. Now I know. It's a nice addition. I didn't notice it on a constant velocity, wasn't any noisier than stock but any time you push it a little, such as passing of accelerating, it purred like a tiger. Yeah, I am going to have to update my signature line (profile), I may be getting such a large one, it may not fit. :D

Anyway, thanks for letting me get this from you and it was nice to hang out and meet you all.

So, how was that take off in the parking lot?? :D

That guy stopped and chewed my *** first....like I had put you guys up to this.

He said that he has to rent that lot from UMB Pavilion and he didn't want to lose the privilege to rent it in the future because a bunch of guys were tearing up the lot.

He didn't seem too pissed......just wanted to get his point across which was understandable.

It was nice meeting you guys. Even though he weather sucked (don't think I thoroughly warmed up until about 10:00pm last night) I still had a good time.

LOL, i had a great time. I don't see why that guy was mad about you spinning your tires. I mean after all people were there all day driving the **** out of cars. At the end of the day the check engine light was on on the mazdaspeed miata

I also got a chance to drive the Mazda Mini-van around the test course. That was a blast.

Take off was a thrill. The Mazda guy wasn't mad -- he was just acting it for show. I think he wanted you to do it again!

Great article Jeff. Having played the last two NFS games, especially NFS Underground, I am looking forward to NFS Underground 2. They better have the RX-8 in it! I was hoping that either EA or some talented young programmers would eventually offer up other cars for download to the NFS U program. I figured it would be painstakenly time consuming modeling all the add ons and mods for each and every car from color to decals. I have played this game 6 times through from beginning to end with most but leaving a few open so I can keep changing a few things here and there. This is the game that got me in trouble, gave me the itch to go out looking for a sports car. The only ones I looked at though are the RX-7, because of the game and the RX-8 because it's a Mazda.

So I went and ordered the Green Filter today, but now I'm wondering if I really want the K&N...we'll see how this works out.

Guys,

This is my first time in the regional forum. I'd like to know if there is any date set to meet again. I would love to see other RX8 in our area (STL).

I have a titanium automatic.

Regards,
Eli
