same here. Hopefully the snow will start melting again. This is the perfect time to mods :) . BTW where are you at?

Razz1 02-05-2008 12:03 AM

I'm still here in Calf. Glad I don't live up there anymore.

Eifuku 02-05-2008 05:05 PM

Doesn't sound like there's much going on here in winter. I've been searching around this site for months and finally pulled the trigger on an '04 VR GT 6sp from Morrie's 4 months ago (great winter car with Blizzak LM22's). Im in Plymouth, where are you??

RCChris 02-05-2008 06:21 PM

I'm located in Edina, I just said fu ck it and pulled the trigger on some Winter Pirelli's. Hopefully they'll be here by Friday. I can't take it anymore...lol

I work in Minnetonka, so you'll catch me there too..

RCChris 02-05-2008 06:23 PM

BTW: it's impossible to find 225/45/18 winter tires this time of the year.....I ended up buying the tires online.

Eifuku 02-05-2008 07:40 PM

I bit the bullet and went with 17" rims for my winter set. Its more $ but i like being able to just swap rims when the weather changes.

Blizzak are great winter tires. My lil bro has them on his car..

I am in St. Paul. Next team I go see Jason and Chris, we should meet up.

Cool, I have the Pirelli MS and they work great for me. I don't take it out during a snow storm or anything. But I got stuck in one and the highway was going 10 mph and I made it home .. ;) Cool, we should all meet up some day.

RCChris 02-06-2008 02:17 AM

That definately sounds like a plan. I am currently home shopping, so I'm tightening up the wallet on getting new wheels for the car but I definately will be getting something in the near future.

But yeah, we should all set something up as soon as Summer hits or when we know the snow is finally gone!

Eifuku 02-06-2008 12:49 PM

Sounds good on the meetup. Even if we don't wait until the snow melts completely im always up for a bru :40oz: and/or meeting new ppl

Speedrx8er 02-06-2008 10:24 PM

cool, pm me your number and email.

RCChris 02-08-2008 12:17 AM

sure

Speedrx8er 02-08-2008 02:19 AM

Good thing about MN is as long as you can make it out of the side streets the highway are clear :) ..

RCChris 02-09-2008 12:33 AM

Got my Pirelli's mounted on this morning...god it's nice to have grip.

Windchill tmrw night is set for -15F...uh oh

BoosTED 02-09-2008 09:05 AM

Winter tires do make a significant difference. :)

How did your tire handle today snow?

RCChris 02-10-2008 02:50 AM

As you guys know, it snowed a little today. Enough so that the side roads were slippery. and I got to see how these tires would perform and I must say, I was quite impressed. It's still easy to be a little quick on the gas and fish tail in 2nd even but if you drive conservatively like you're supposed to in the snow, car does fairly well. Nothing like my previous Audi of course, but still...a lot better than my 350Z did last year in the snow..

Speedrx8er 02-10-2008 02:54 AM

Cool..
I went to four year to supercharger today and it was a good drive.
making a U-turn was fun :)

RCChris 02-10-2008 03:05 AM

haha....I bet!

I was just laughing my ass off how often the traction control kept coming on.

RCChris 02-10-2008 03:09 AM

I guess tmrw I will experiment with partial DSC off and see how that goes.

Hepcat1920 02-11-2008 03:58 PM

DSC observations...

I have had 2 RX-7s which did not have DSC, loved winter, could throw them around corners, very predictable handling.

I have been driving my 1st winter in the RX8 with the DSC on, and am not sure I totally like it. Whenever I forget it is on-I go for a planned slide, and it kicks in abruptly. :shakes fist:
Othertimes, I expect it to go off, and it when it does, it is way later than I anticipated.
The overall experience is less predictable than I am used to.

I think it has something to do with steering angle and speed if I remember correct from my training class.

I know I am not quite used to the RX8 all together yet - but there is my initial reaction to DSC.
Still the car I thought it was and more.

(I am on winter tire - Blizzaks for those that were wondering)

Seti001 02-13-2008 09:33 PM

They must not be the stock tires then because one inch of snow and a person can't move the car.
