Spotted black 8
 

Saw a black 8 getting on 694 in maple grove. Any of you guys? I was the black 8 across the intersection. : ) I'm happy to say i'v now seen 3 8's in maple grove. I think they were just passing through though I live here.

hey well I had planned on going to MRR but due to many complications I am regretfully not going. You can go without pre registration and apparently there is much to do there...races to watch and you may even be able to jump on the track.

I think this was me. I've got a 2004 Black 8, with the Appearance pkg and a RB exhaust. I was in Maple Grove that weekend. I saw another black 8 with a sunroof in the Ridgedale mall that weekend too so who knows.

Do any of you go to Morrie's Mazda for your car work? Do they have good techs and perform well? I live in La Crosse, no dealer here and am going to the Cities and thought I would make an appt. for some warrenty items.

been taking cars to Morries since 1982...amazing service...they were rated #2 in the country for service several years in a row recently.

if you have warranty work they give you a free rental car and make it easy since there is an Enterprise Rental company in the building!

if you are doing non warranty work their prices are medium to high since they are a top notch shop...especially since the new shop was created a couple years ago...squeeky clean in there!

if you go talk to Jim or Jason (the service manager)...both great guys with lots of experience, I will only work with them (the the young guys are pretty good too...for some reason the females there are clueless and not very helpful...stay away...and no I'm not being sexist just realistic)

Just had some warranty work done there, and I was very happy with it.

Woot! Just got my 8 back from Walser in Burnsville.

Had the fuel tank recall done. New headlights (whitish film issue), new e-brake, new center arm rest, and they even put in a replacement fog light for me. (I provided the fog light, they only charge me minimum labor to install and aim it.) (Also ordered parts for the heating/AC problem I had.. the parts are "restricted" from Mazda, so they're not sure when they'll show up.)

Just added the JDM clear corners, and got the '05 key/keyfob combo. (They even cut the key for free.)

Needless to say, I'm very happy.. :) The car feels better then when I purchased it.. all of the little issues are "gone" (except for the heat/AC issue.)

So Morries isn't the only service department to be "useful" in the Twin Cities... (I'm still a little miffed that back in 2003 Morries wouldn't even talk to me about the RX-8.. I'm sure that was a sales, and not service issue.)

good another place we can go for fixes in addition to morries...we are very fortunate to have more than one good service department in town

as for the sales people at Morries...there was definitely a dark period there...as a long time customer when I came in to get an RX-8 the offer they threw out was comical...I laughed in the managers face and mentioned we've bought cars from you for over 20 years...I left and haven't gone back since.

Apparently since then that prick manager is gone and a new guy is there who happen to have been the manager who oversaw my RX-8 purchase at BMW Motorwerks in bloomington (I bought mine with a couple thousand miles on it...the prior owner traded the 8 in for an M5). This new guy is changing the entire place and my girlfriend bought a Mazda3 there using the Costco program and we were all very pleased...everyone was friendly and welcoming...totally different environment.

I think the reason for the change was the addition of Maserati sales at the Morries Minnetonka Mazda dealership...it breathed new life there as they hired the BMW manager to oversee sales of Mazda and Maserati...they needed a classy person to sell cars with starting prices of 90,000.

We'll meet on Sept 18th at Sears in downtown Saint Paul, southwest corner of the lot off Marion Street..

From I-94 Eastbound, get off at Marion Street, tun left, go north over the freeway. Sears parking lot on the right.

From I-35E Northbound, get off at Kellogg Boulevard, turn left, go across 35E, past the History Center and then over I-94. Sears parking lot on the right.

From I-35E Southbound, get on I-94 Westbound.

From I-94 Westbound, get off at Rice Street, cross John Ireland Boulevard, go past the hotel and then left into the Sears parking lot. Cross the lot to the opposite corner.

Have everybody show up at 10:30 so we can hand out maps, radios and general instructions. If we have time, we can do a photo in front of the Capitol building which will be great for marketing the club.

In general, we will go down to the Hastings area, cross to Wisconsin and go down the east side of the river to Wabasha. There will be a picnic barbque at Wabasha then back up the west side of the river. We can probably do the tuning session in Hastings and then release everybody there.

If we leave Sears at 10:45, and then leave the capitol Building at 11:00, we will be in Wabasha at about 1:00 pm. We will leave Wabasha at 2:00 and be back at Hastings at about 3:30. Those who wish to stay can stay, those who wish to leave will be free to go at 3:30 pm.

Please see if you can bring the following for the picnic.

Drinks,
ice/cups
paper plate/napkins,
dogs/burgers/bread, <-- I'll bring this
Chicken/bbq souce.
Chips
or anything else you wish to bring.. :)

Just a quicky reminder ** bump ** that we're meeting today at 10:30 at the Sears lot in St. Paul for a nice drive. So far I believe there are going to be about 6 8's (or so). It's not too late.. ;)

Took my bumper off, dented rear right fender, bent right exhaust pipe, etc, etc.....
$2,600 worth of damage....
I chased him for 10 miles, I have no idea what he was thinking?
Cops arrested him for hit and run, suspened license, and he tried running from thr cops when they caught up to us...he doesn't have insurance either.....
It just gets better and better
I hope you guys had fun, I really wanted to be there....
I want to see another boosted 8 so bad so we can compare...oh well

Yes we had fun :) it was a great ride. Lots of curves, up and down the hill :)

FYI, there will be a boosted 8 with the Interceptor here end of this month :)

I have only had nightmares about stuff like that happening.

I bet your adrenaline was going during the 10 mile chase. One of those times when you hope a police car follows the chase.

I remember when I was a kid and our car was sideswiped on I94 before West Broadway by a 1980's Firebird. My Mom was driving and my Dad told her to chase them in our 1981 Caprice Classic. She said, "No!" So my Dad gently scooted over and proceded to chase them driving from the middle of the car through Minneapolis. We caught up to them on a dead end thanks to me telling my Dad to take a shortcut because they were forming a pattern. They ditched the car and had a similar deal no insurance and such.

The meet was well planned. I had a blast on those "15 mile an hour" corners and the hills. Beautiful scenery too. :cool:

that is crazy Papajoey! tell us more :eek: funny part since u in a turboed 8 probably had fun catching up to the guy :)

So I just got done washing the 8 and I was going to head down to minneapolis the night before so we didn't have to leave so early the next morning and on my way home it happened ( I was still in Grand Forks)...yeah the whole time I was on the phone with the 911 dispatcher I started to loose my breath when I was talking, between my adreanaline and being pissed off :mad:
He tried to hit me again when we were 3 miles from town going into the country, so then he pulled into this church and I didn't know what he had up his sleeve so I stayed on the street as he did donuts in the parking lot??? :confused:
So then he came flying out at me and I threw it in reverse and whipped the car around and it really started to get interesting when we got back into town...
I guess all that autocrossing pays off!!!
